wow, arguably the most naive action of the season.
You give Kristoff the victory and ask him to pull 100%.
If Westra and Lutsenko were even close to thinking they could win the stage, they should have attacked before the bridge (descent to the finish). There is no way you can overtake anybody (and certainly not Kristoff) in that downhill sprint in the last 200 meters!

Lol wtf Astana!? So is Kristoff with this performance again a contender for RVV?
Don't think he is a contender based solely on that performance, but it will certainly give Canc and Sagan something to think about. Might make them more inclined to make the race hard from early on, to make sure Kristoff won't last.

Certainly good to have a different kind of threat in the mix.

Let's not forget GVA. Despite having been sick he was just a few wheels from making the Canc/Sep/Sagan split at GW. He should be back to his earlier form for Flanders.

Yep, he's got a chance as well. I'm doubtful if he can follow Sagan or Canc over Kwaremont and the Paterberg if they go full gas. But in a hard race his endurance could be key.

The Danish Eurosport commentators were actually speculating if Westra and Lutsenko simply doesn't understand each other... :p

Well there was a MTF and the strongest rider won that day. Today I'm not sure if it is the strongest rider who won (strongest sprinter yes). But it's no shame losing to Kristoff in this kind of finish even if you have numbers, but the way they rode the final it's just stupid. If you know you can't win the stage just ride for the overall. Both Mini Vino and Westra have their chances against the Norwegian in the ITT. I don't understand what were they doing.

Real bad luck for Rowe with his puncture, what an Astana fail though Westra will probably still win overall

Wow Astana. You had two choices. Either you go for the stage win and attack Kristoff and let him do all the work or you just pull Kristoff to the line so you have a chance to win the gc, but this? Just stupid.

However I'm actually quite happy about Kristoff's win because now I think he might be a contender for RVV. Ofc Westra and Lutsenko aren't Cancellara and Sagan but he really rode the mur without any problem and looked way better than on the weekend. If the pace is low on Sunday and the winners group is big, he definitely has a chance.

That is very unlikely, I think.
Good showing today, though. Also happy to see Mads P so strong

Posted yesterday that Etiz Quick Step are inflexible with their tactics - They have to put one of their lesser riders in the break - Get lucky and the rider holds on in the break or you could even use him as a satellite rider - At least they will do less work chasing the break.

The only team to work all day and their main guy finishes with everyone else...

I'm pretty sure they don't care about Kittel, Sabatini, Martinelli, Keisse, Richeze and Wisniowski losing time.

Heh, as recent as last evening I gave a thought to what I percived was Westras current weaksauce state but he proved med rather wrong today. Amusing tactics from Astanabois...

Kristoff improving but surely to late for RvV.
