he certainly is a good bet on those technical dutch roads full of road furniture, and he has shown signs that he has improved his acceleration this season
He will probably try an early attack indeed, but he'll be swept up when the real contenders go. Like the few other times he did Amstel.

Or not.

It's not a grimace it's a smile hiding laughter...

Gilbert to Cancellara "ssshhhh I'm faking so I don't get marked out of the ardennes like you did in PR last year"

Does Wiggins race, or hasn't he heard that the top three gets free beer?:D

Has wiggins ever attacked? I only ask as i don't think he has the kick for the finishing cauberg, but could prove domestique extraordinaire for someone

Wiggo sitting this one out. Sky squad from their site:

Davide Appollonio, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Mathew Hayman, Sergio Henao, Thomas Löfkvist, Lars-Petter Nordhaug, Salvatore Puccio, Xabier Zandio

Puccio is a new name to me. Will look out for him.

He's only 22 though and first season pro ;) He won Ronde U23 and he showed really good promise this season. Should have won Criterium Itnernational Stage 1 but French rider took him out. He was good at Pais Vasco in helping the team. Dont expect more, he's going learn the ropes and help the team here. Gain experience. In future he'll be a great rider though.

Nordhaug says that he and Henao will be joint leaders for Amstel Gold. Nordhaug will cover attacks before the final and Henao will ride more passively and save energy for the sprint.

To be honest Airstream, he did win a very difficult finish in Tirreno-Adriatico against the likes of Nibali, Di Luca, Kreuziger, Horner, Scarponi and Evans.

I understand, but to me Cauberg is a largely different story. Nibali and Kreuziger are npt sprinters at all. Evans and Scarponi were prepared very mediocrely then, Di Luca... Ah, I'd gladly look at Sagan vs 05 or 07 il Killer! :(

If anything, that wall in Tirreno should suit him less than the Cauberg...

The field and the level of opponents' form were considerably weaker. Well, he can win if 4-5 main favourites won't be good, but I don't expect it to happen

the problem with sagan is if he will make it in the decisive group at the foot of the cauberg.if he does,i think it's game over for everybody.

HHmmm. Only if he is as strong as Gilbert last year, which I doubt he can be. Purito for the win:)

Hehe, ok, if that's the case he will flatten everybody. :)
That, I don't think. He might very well have reached his peak in Flanders, where (as I hope you've seen?) he was very strong.

Lool, yeah, I've seen surely. :) My point is just that regarding a 300-400 meter at 6-7% sector - anyways, very likely it will be a short sprinter showdown - Valverde, Rodriguez and Gerrans are by far ahead of the rest, including Sagan. Probably, he'll show something extraordinary.. I may be wrong though.

Have Henao and Nordhaug ever showed that they can be competitive after 250k on a very tough course?

I have my doubts about Team Sky in AGR. I wonder why they didn't let Uran be in the squad.

It really depends on how much energy he has left. We saw in E3 Prijs Vlaanderen-Harelbeke that he didn't have much left for the sprint after his attack 10-15k from the finish.
