The final was kind of nice, incredible by Bardet and of course Freire. The rest of the race was the most boring Amstel I've ever seen.

I guess it was the cold, the other time we've seen such a bunch sprint up the Cauberg it was also really cold. People can't make a difference anymore with that weather.

Oh, and what a Rabo fail again. Unbelievable.

No I can only say you are pathetic and your idiotic comments.
Is it really BMC's fault that cummings had two injuries, hushovd had illnesses, Gilbert had an infection and illness, evans just had an illness. Multiple punctures and crashes in the vital moments in so many races. i would say their just unlucky. In a few races they have ridden very strongly and have not managed to win. I think they actually did good moves to purchase those riders. They will get their results in the long term. If they totally suck at the tour than you can say BMC has sucked. But at this moment they look like the favorites to win.

what kinda diet has bmc got these riders on to make them so vulnerable

usually they catch him after that and outsprint him, a la valverde.. or like they did in th 2011 ronde, 2011 MSR.. that kind of stuff.

sagan is such a talent...

Yet he won the Clasica San Sebastian solo, Giro di Lombardia 2010 solo, dragged 9 losers towards the Cauberg last year and still won by 2 seconds over everyone, won queen stage of the Eneco Tour solo, destroyed your precious Cancellara so hard on the first stage of the Tour last year that he's still recovering from it, won the Belgian nats solo against the likes of Boonen, etc

Just a bit too long for Henao I think. He was nicely up there, but then after about 200k he dropped to the back of the group, and pretty much stayed there. FW should suit him better.

so the big questions after this race should be:

Is 1 week enough time for the gilbert to perfect his shape in order to win liege?

Is piti lacking something( no pun intended) for the classics atm or is it just his usual fail up the cauberg?

Of the contenders for liege who looked the best today?

and at last but not least

By how many minutes will samu win FW? :p

I think Gilbert's shape is almost enough to win LBL as it is if you add the morale boost from his home ground.

Not much different than the usual excuses from Sky fans regarding Nordhaug, Cavendish and Edvald Boasson Hagen. Mind you, BMC did fail so far this year, I'm not making excuses for that. Gilbert finally seems to be on the right track though, can't be denied. GVA and Ballan have done better than last few years, so they can't be blamed as well. Hushovd so far is their biggest fail.

Lol, you got to be either the dumbest person alive or the biggest troll.

Gilbert started his sprint very early, that's why he lost those 2 seconds in the end ;) If he could just sit in wheels then he would've won the sprint easily. For second place: because Freire would have won without Gilbert's attack. Gilbert murdered him self. Sagan, Gasparoto and Jelle Vanendert sucked wheels.

I have to agree with you. I for one didn't expect Gilbert to perform this well. I figured he'd maybe slip into the top 10 but not animate the slo-mo sprint to the line. He did himself and his team proud. Personally I wish he hadn't started his sprint/ or should I say initiated the final pursuit of Freire on the Cauberg when he did, because if he hadn't Freire would've surely pulled out an epic win. It really would've been beautiful. Dang you Gilbert!:(

Pisti, everytime someone critiscses a rider you like, you got to respond by attacking riders they like?

They had 3 riders in the front group. Where was Radioshack? Where was Abandony Schleck?

How many races has your super team won again?

The finish was really exciting, but the rest of the race sucked. none of the favorites attacked. Gilbert was surprisingly strong, will probably take liege. Gasparotto was strong and also timed his sprint well. He started the climb not at the front and worked his way up to gilbert. He might be able to do well in liege. it would be funny if he won the ardennes triple...

You can't expect someone who was already good in the Tour Down Under to also be good in the Ardennes classics. I always knew he wasn't going to figure in the Ardennes classics.

Well yes, C&C Fan said Valverde would destroy Phil, so when that doesn't happen it's worth pointing out ;)

There's a difference between criticizing and telling flat out nonsense like C&C fan though. Valverde was never going to win the sprint today, but that doesn't mean he won't be ready for Liège-Bastogne-Liège - that race is much better suited to him.

I read something where he said he might come back sunday for Liège. Being in good shape and Euskaltel in need of WT points, why the hell doesn't he ride these races?
