Bogota, Colombia August, 17 | The classic RCN - Comcel 50th year of uninterrupted travel over the roads of Colombia, leading to memorable Pedalazo Pedalazo wins in the sport that has given this country of cycling.

This year, the celebration of half a century will be accompanied by historical contest winners as Oscar Gonzalez, Carlos Montoya, Halais Buitrago, Albeiro Mejía, Álvaro Mejía, Alberto Camargo, Jairo Rodríguez and Francisco Grijalva.

It especially evoke the memory of Ruben Dario "El Tigrillo" Gomez, the first Classic champion and who died on July 23 this year

How about those podium girls!!

There was a time in which the Clasico RCN used to attract a lot of stars from the European circuit. Since Colombian cycling declined in the 90's it all went away. Some stars that came to Colombia to race this Classic were Pascal Simon, Greg Lemond, Bernard Hinault and others.

We need a solid 1 week race so maybe one day could be Protour. It is sad that a Country with a richer cycling history and probably bigger prospects that a lot of the lesser cycling countries in Europe, it does not have a Protour race.

the reason many europeans went to ride clasico rcn in 80s and early 90s was because it was then held in june before the tour, excellent high altitude preparation and a LOT of money was given to europeans racing there. in the 90s colombia was completely ****ed up by socialist governments and in the past 10 years it's going back to older glory.

This is the hardest, very nasty and tricky 10 day stage race without restday to me knowledge. Israel Ochoa (46) born August 26, 1964 will do another Clásico RCN he won it in 1996 - if you look below in this thread he won last years bizar stage 8 (Pic.) !

The organization of Clásico RCN will pay tribute to all the winners of the most emblematic evidence of cycling in America, an event that is part of the extensive program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the race.

The commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Clásico RCN, will be a great opportunity to bring together for the first time in its history, the vast majority of cyclists who were eventually crowned champions of the race.

Except for the first Clásico champion, Rubén Darío Gómez (1961-1962) are expected to attend all other champions sinds then, from Martín Emilio 'Cochise "Rodríguez (1963) to Raul Montana (1995-1997-1998) , considering that the champions from Israel Ochoa (1996) until today, are still active and will race in the 50th Clásico RCN, looking for another title.

The Organizing Committee of the 50th Clásico RCN, did send out invitations to all the former champions of the race last week and so far has already received confirmation from 10 of them.

none of them ever won it. only some stages like bernard hinault won the final timetrial in 1986.

XVI Vuelta Nacional Marco Fidel Suárez (BabyRCN)

With a large group of 111 cyclists will start tomorrow's the 16th National Marco Fidel Suárez.
The 5 day rac is bringing together 12 teams, which will tour the subregions of the Aburrá Valley, North, Northeast and Middle Magdalena in the department of Antioquia.

This is the last test towards towards the big brother Clásico RCN, which starts on 30th of this month in Bucaramanga, last years winner was Mauricio Ortega of EPM-UNE winning the race with 1 minute 57sec. Sergio Luis Henao Orgullo Paisa cyclists winner of the Tour of Colombia is also start tomorrow in this race that has a price money of 19 millones de pesos.

Is going to be excited for sure Escarabajo today. It is nice to keep an eye on the guys(12) from Ecuador, how they mend in to the field.

It is about 4:30 am at night in Colombia as we speak so the guys will get up within an hour and in say 5 hours time it is race time start at 10am at the local Autopista and go from there to the mountains !

Luis Felipe Laverde del equipo Colombia es pasión 472-Café de Colombia se impuso en la 2 etapa de la Clásica Marco Fidel Suarez que se corrió entre Carolina del Príncipe – Cisneros – Puerto Berrio. El de Urrao forjó una fuga en los últimos kilómetros que se conviió en su camino hacia la victoria.
