so in order to win a grand tour, the pros must be able to ride 6.5w/kg to 7.5w/kg ..

but for how long is this expected effort supposed to be sustained for ?

For up to an hour, after 3-5 hours of averaging nearly 4 Watts per kg, after two weeks of racing.

Dr Ferrari went off 6.7W/kg for an hour when coaching Armstrong.
