As far as I saw, Higuita took every pull. Vansevenant was pulling a bit, the third rider refused to pull. Higuita didn't throw this away, he is just to weak on the flat and hadn't enough help

Christen was the most animating rider at least, it's worth taking the 20s like with Porte and Froome that time, I blame the jury.

Whats wrong with Christen? Besides granted his race IQ dosnt match his legs at all so far in his career mostly but thats hardly the end of the world for someone 21. To many sheeps.

He has a lot to learn, but other riders, specially Higuita seem more tactically inept.
This Alula Tour has been one disaster after another. Jayco wins the disaster award.

The stage is excellent as is and has been whenever they've done it, no need to change anything. Accentuates good legs but also timing and tactics, like a steep San Remo.

I guess it's because the sole purpose of the race is to promote AlUla. So they finish at the Harrat Viewpoint, instead of at the climb, where is nothing at all.

I actually think it's a good finish for an otherwise not very selective race like this, though, and one where tactics as well as strength can be decisive.

What's with the Higuita criticism? What should he have done differently? Make everyone stop on top of the climb for a few weeks so he could go to the gym and bulk up to be stronger on the flat? He took a lot of pulls in the groups where he needed to. If it was as easy as you insinuate to win a race like this on your own, cycling wouldn't be as interesting as it is.

I like that finale. Too many races are decided solely on a climb and especially with such a steep finale won't make the race more interesting.
Having a flat final kilometres after a really steep climb opens for a lot more tactics and offers something different.
