Could be an exciting battle for the white jersey this weekend. Latour and Gaudu seem to be the favourites to take over the jersey tomorrow, but if Schachmann can stay within 30 seconds (seems unlikely) he could take it back in the time trial. Also interesting to see what Carapaz, Haig and Kämna can do tomorrow.

Great to see Viviani win a race in 2017 - Interested to see how Edmondson goes in the ITT on Sunday - A top 10 or even a top 5 should be a psossibility.
I think he is more of an explosive rider. Made for prologues, 10k flat TTs, lead-outs and sprints.

Orica believe he will be a classics rider on the cobbles - Time will tell.

Signs so far (particularly top 25 at first RVV) indicate he may prove competitive at worst in the cobbled races; time will of course tell us whether he can go that extra step and be a contender.

As for TT; I suspect he may mirror Matthews in being highly competitive in prologues and shorter ITTs .... and a potential major asset to a TTT but fall away once the distances increases.

Re sprints, he has certainly showed that he possesses excellent acceleration and is likely to win his quota of sprints through his career, especially in reduced fields and where the very top guys aren't present. He has the strength to potentially hold his own in a bunch kick but does he have the top end speed to match it with the big boys ..... I suspect not but it may serve him well in some classics finishes.

Teams like Orica, Movistar or Katusha who have more than one real option for gc should send one of their riders on a long range attack to put pressure on Felline and Roglic.

$6 for Froome for this stage is outstanding!

Maybe something to do with this:

"We'll ride the stage in the same way," Portal said when asked if Sky would race for the stage or the GC.

"It's good to go for the time bonuses at the line but it's important to use all the climbs in our way. If you're one of the best climbers and arrive at the bottom of the last climb with fresh rivals it's not the best so the team will try and make it hard in some places. We'll give everything. Even if a breakaway wins we can still make gaps. It means that the stage win is not super important but gaining time is."

Thanks for posting that. If they are trying to make it hard to wear down the likes of Roglic and Izagirre before the final climb then that will have the effect of pulling the break back anyway. I still think the $6 price (gone now, so I'm pleased to have got plenty while it lasted) is fabulous overs.

Yes or maybe BMC would chase for the stage.

Good luck with your bet.
