Hodeg should've won that if he went a few metres earlier.

Quite a terrible sprint field for three days in a row of flat stages though

It’s great to get a look at Ackermann v Hodeg. They are genuinely fast, particularly so far this year Ackermann. I think that looking back when both are more established this will seem like a strong field. The Tour of Poland is often a good place to see guys who are about to be big duel.
I'm quite surprised QSI didn't bring Jakobsen. He outsprinted Ackermann pretty easily in Scheldeprijs..

But I guess they're letting him ride Binckbanck, and if not, then I really don't know the logic...

Really nice last 1km with Tratnik and Paterski kinda ruining the trains and then Valgren with Zielinski(?) gaining some ground, but then Ackermann and Hodeg were unleashed zippng right through a tiny gap. Good stuff.

Jakobsen is very young, so they may be trying to avoid overworking him. I would not judge him versus Ackermann on one sprint in spring, Ackermann has stepped forward since then and Jakobsen has been quiet. I think he has five wins since Jakobsen last took one. As against that, Jakobsen is a lot better at 21 than Ackermann was at that age. Hugely better. It would be interesting to see them matched here. After the first two stages it appears that Ackermann currently has Hodeg’s number.

I'll echo toby up there; are you sure about that?

That was Morkov, of course, in his well distinctive Danish NC jersey.

How do you mix up a Quickstep rider (in Danish NC jersey) with an Astana (who isn't even there)?

Don't know, ask railxmig :)

Maybe this is because of a hot Valgren-related discussion that took place recently in a transfer topic? You know, you read a lot about Valgren, then you see Valgren everywhere…

Otherwise, I have no reasonable explanation.

Just tuned in and i see i've just made a gross mistake. I thought Valgren was the Danish champion.

Wait, there's no Astana? I think it's probably too hot for me and my attention is deteriorating.

Astana are there (it's WorldTour) but Valgren isn't.

He'll be number two in the Binckbank Tour next week after Søren Kragh, though.

Kwiato might have made an error yesterday by only being number 88 on the stage. Last year, the GC was very, very close to having to be decided on a count-back, and that's always a risk in a race with no TT.

All the other GC contenders are placing themselves well, and on Sunweb's website, one of the stories of the day even is that Oomen placed himself better than the other GC contenders today.

Nice speed on the Ackerman's clock reached on the descent to the finish line

OK, the facts are as follows:

1) he was at full stage-end sprint speed;
2) the terrain (last kilometer) was a slight 2-3% descent.

Question: is it possible to get a speed of a 105 km/h in these circumstances, even for a (very) short time?

No, it's not. I don't think you can generate force by pedalling at such speed, and clearly he did.

I think 70-75 km/h is a better estimation of the speed in the sprint.

The previous record for the sprint was 85 if I believe correctly. Wouldn't be suprised if it was faster this time. Tons of slipstream. Also, Zielinski said that he had a 54 gear and couldn't push any harder (Ackerman had 55). Topped out at 80km/h and said that the sprinters were just getting started at that point

Fun finish though! The slalom at the end was really impressive

Confusion might be slightly my fault; forgetting the "rider" part after "Astana".

So... the time it'll go live on Eurosport2 just magically changed from 17:41 to 18:15...
I've got it on the Player, but I'm having a hard time hearing, and not to mention understanding, the speaker you can hear in the background.
