It shows how much incompetence and ignorance there has been in the pro ranks of the peloton in a not so distant past, and very likely still is. Fuglsang said he wasted 8 years of his pro career due to bad diets. Jurgen Van den Broeck last year on a TV talkshow told us what he had to do to get at the right weight for GT's, and there was a professional dietician who basically made him look like a fool, by stating what he had been doing his entire career, had been counterproductive to say the least.

This is one of the main factors imho, why it takes the young generation so little effort to break in the pro ranks.

Yupe, I also think this. And being born in 1998/1999/2000/2001, this generation was 10 to 15 years old when Sky appeared with their "marginal gains" (which, to be honest, were nothing new in other sports) and the "scientific approach" was put into focus, so these riders, their parents and coaches had much more likely a stronger focus to this topics in a crucial age for an athlete's development.
