The answer lays in either:
Fudd's First Law of Opposition
If you push something hard enough, it will fall over.
Or
Teslacle's Deviant to Fudd's Law

----------
50 per cent and 300 per cent = multiplication
less than = subtraction
From reading newspapers over half a century, be it in English or in French, I have concluded that a majority of journalists do not have a command of the language of mathematics as you beautifully exemplified in this particular case.
Hugh Januss said:Actually 50% less would be one half as much, while 100% less would be nothing. Maybe what they are trying to say is that where their competition has a 5 million budget they are actually starting out 10 million in debt?

now let's take $100 increase it 400% now we have $400. lets decrease it $300. Now your money decreased by 75% or 3 sets of 100. 100 being the original 100% you can say your $ went down 300%
Lies, darn lies and satistics
