... And here's a +1 for Austria too. :D

Hallstatt, Austria. I was there this year.

BroDeal reminds me at yesterday The Wire episode, when Omar answering question about shooter Glock gun: "It was Australian made or maybe something Austrian...":D

I saw this on t-shirts when I was in Austria. As an Aussie, it made me smile:

Funny! I do not even go there, euro kills everything too expensive IMHO.
Australia? Maybe:)

the spiders are not great but cruising on the trails in Nepal in the lowlands one would see fist size monsters in their webs in the banana trees...eek. don't want to post a pic...you can google :)

You can never be too careful with spiders or with countries that start with "aus".

Harmless... keeps the flies and mozzies away.

Why are people so afraid??

Because we all know that everything in Australia is deadly.
Australia is on my short list of places to visit. Never been before but judging from Aussie co-workers and surfing videos, I could move there tomorrow and not ever want to leave.

I'm getting good with spiders now, I no longer scream like a girl when I see one.

Last time I killed a spider was an epic fail. It was on my ceiling so naturally I swatted at it. Only the body fell onto my bed and I couldn't find it....

You should have seen the 'BMC kit' explosion in Melbourne after July. Full kits & bikes.. bobbing up everywhere. I heard that the country entirely sold out of kits.

Shame, I have to keep wearing my Banesto & Festina gear...

Brisbane is going the same way too. There has also been a disturbing amount of Livestrong/USPS/Discovery/Mellow Johnnys kit around as well.

That's why I bought an old Floyd era Phonak kit for coffee shop rides :D

Does it come with complimentary EPO?

Oh and Bro Deal, my mum once found one of these whilst doing some gardening:

Getting bit by an Eastern Brown Snake will seriously ruin your day, and potentially your life (or rather you won't have one). Funnily enough she spent all day doing some gardening and it sat there the whole day and it never attacked her.

i don't know why people say they won't come to australia, you're unlikely to come across any of these creatures in a visit.

huntsmen are fine, they won't hurt, snakes are shy, funnel webs are nasty mofos though, they will go you.

far more annoying are those punctures that you just can't figure out what's causing them.

Holy crap, if I found one of those in my shed I think I would actually die from the fear! Makes me glad to live in northern England where 'monster' spiders only have a leg-span of about an inch and generally run like hell as soon as you enter the room. Is there any region of Australia not filled with life threatening snakes and spiders, or is the whole country a no go zone?

Well I'm not sure about the North but down here in Southern England we can get housespiders(cardinal I think) about 4 or 5 inches across for a big one.
They run so fast as well which can be kind of disconcerting. They give me the creeps anyway.

I'm amazed that Bro Deal is petrified of the spiders we have here (I can honestly count the amount of times I've seen a Redback Spider and I very seldom see any snakes).

I like snakes. Spiders not so much. Giant spiders not at all.

Snakes are cool. I caught a rubber boa a couple of weeks ago.

Our killer wildlife is larger than your killer wildlife.

Until you've seen a 5+ metre 1000kg croc close up, I'm not sure I'd agree :p

We have a few shark attacks of course, and most of the world's venomous snakes are Aussies:
http://www.avru.org/general/general_mostvenom.html

The funnel web is a nasty little ******.

But really, for scary small creatures, not sure you can go past the blue ringed octopus. Get a dose from that little sucker and you're history.

Amazing how we're all still here really :D

Those tyre hernias are a PITA. That's one reason why I like our plastic bank notes - handy for putting inside tyres that have a slash - good enough to get you home.

Depends on where you live. Have a friend who had to move house due to the constant funnel webs, one even landing in the wifes hair one day when walking through out the door.

plenty of country friends see spiders on a daily basis.
