THIS IS A VERY INTERESTING STUFF!! UCI WHO CLAIMS TO BE THE BOSS AT DRUG CONTROLS WHEN THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY SIGNIFICANT/POSITIVE REPORTS. THE FRENCH AFLD WHO ON THE OTHER HAND HAD EXPOSED THOSE CHEATS LAST YEAR WHEN THEY WERE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO SO.AND I HAVE TO ASK, BEING FRENCH AND BEING Tour De FRANCE AS THEIRS, AFLD SHOULD HAVE THE BETTER SAY! BESIDES, THEY SEEM TO BE REAL VIGILANT, HONEST, AND NON BIAS,

Widely reported Pierre Bordry's worries transfussions, Heamtide and Aicar being used 2009 TdF. Less widely that Agence Francaise de Lutte Contre le Dopage wanted to retest some samples but UCI would not let them. BMJ 2009;339:b4201.
Anyone like to put odds on TdF being run under French rules 2010?

The UCI is afraid that, if the antidoping controls are done by the AFLD, we could have another doping scandal, and that's in no way good for the image of cycling. So, in my opinion, the problem is that the UCI thinks that the AFLD is too efficient in the fight against doping, because if it's otherwise I can't imagine the reason of not letting such an efficient organization to do the controls themselves in their own country.

Exactly that's my point. But to nurture and protect our beloved sport. and to be able to tell our next generation that THIS is the sport we are proud of.. We have to do something. UCI only means commercialism and politics. We have to get rid of them along with the cheats.

+1
The UCI doesn't even put up much of a semblance of being unbiased and objective when it comes to catching dopers, handing out Protour licenses, or enforcing all those rules they keep written on etch-a-sketch tablets.

The retests were for CERA - Bordry knows full well that riders had already moved on to hematide etc. but the tests don't exist yet.

The UCI should stick to promoting the sport and let the testing be done by an independent body. The conflict of interest in them doing their own testing isn't even funny anymore.
