I'm not lying if I'm worry about contador's knee. I hope it's okay. But definitely tomorrow will sore like hell and might be possible stiff for him to climb.. oo please i hope it's just superficial.. no damage whatsoever. .. The fireworks seem to just started..

Today Alberto was ok, brilliant and brave.. it is the kind of stage that suit him well. He did the same two years ago in this climb.
he is thinking, as well at a lot of people, isolate Froome early in the Madeleine, and later get allies and win the Tour...
But, you years ago, he was the man who fail in the queen stage, similar to friday stage.

Here's AC's post-stage comments:

"This is pure and simple cycling. Today we tried and in the end a Belkin rider was unhooked and another was on the ropes," he said.

"Now I just hope that the fall does not affect me more than to sleep a little worse and that tomorrow could be an important day."

Finally, he indicated that his attacking style would be a persistent thorn in Sky's side as the British squad look to run down the clock all the way to Paris.

"I have not been able to make differences, but hey, the legs are getting better and I hope I can give some spectacle. I don't know if we'll win or not, but I hope the people behind the TV will enjoy.

"Whenever I see that there is a chance, I'll try to do something, either at the beginning or at the end of the race. And we'll see what is the final result in Paris."

This is why I'm a fan.

Me too!!!! What a great attitude; the attitude of a Great Champion. Win or lose he will leave it all on the road!

Praying the knee isn't to bad and he can have a good TT. Legs 'getting better' means they aren't good yet :( But he will fight on and do what he can for our pleasure. Give them Tomorrow More Alberto!!!

This is why I have been a fan of Contador for years.
My defining Alberto moment was in 2007 on the stage to Tignes. He had a mechanical and blasted his way back to his group. At that point he wasn't really considered a contender. As a Dane I never rooted for Rasmussen, I rooted for the wonderboy in the white jersey after having seen his performance going up to Tignes.

Anyway, do you have a link to his post stage comments?

Edit: Found it. Cyclingnews' own round-up. :)

Lets wait to see what actually happens. Its all well and good to say he will attack and even suggest he still believes a win is possible. And he has tried it before and it has succeeded before.

But in the end it could turn out to be a big dud like stage 9 was. Froome is not going to let Contador go easy. hell probably have Porte for the whole stage. I dont know how Contador will even be able to get away. And if he does will Belkin, Movi, work for Froome?

Thanks for the suggestion that I limit my expression of support for Contador by interjecting sober and reasoned analysis about his prospects for success (or lack thereof) to ensure that I'm not overly disappointed in the likely event that his words are not matched by actions upon the road. :p

You must be a lot of fun at parties. ;)

If Quintana and Contador attack then Belkin aren't going to bring them back.
Porte was dropped on the cat 2 today before the pace slowed and he came back, so I can't see how he will be there the whole way through the 3 remaining mountain stages.

Well, your glass is half empty, his is half full. You are Ugrumov, he is Contador.

If he has the legs he will go for it. I can't think of any other contender currently in the peloton, other than Andy in 2011, who when trailing in the gc is willing to put it all on the line by taking the risk of an attack like Contador did in the Tour in 2011 and the Vuelta last year to get the win and entertain the fans. Maybe, just maybe he is on the downward slope of his success in the sport but that doesn't change his attitude toward racing.

I said this in another thread. But riders will ride to defend there positions. All they care for is there UCI points. Alberto rides to win, and gives the fans a show! You might hate him but the man gives you a show. Or if you prefer you can watch the SKY train all day everyday! Oh sorry that was last years tour!

He reminds me of Federer perhaps a couple of years behind though. There is something about champions being slightly off their best/past their peak that makes me get behind them.

I'll probably root for Froome in about 5 years ;)

One Brit I would love to see win is Lewis Hamilton, that Vettel wins too much !

i think he is after belkin rider. It's only a handful of seconds between them. Quintana already said he wanted podium. So that means he needs to attack. Whether to unseat roman, contador or mollema. Contador will most likely going postal to whoever in front of him. kreuziger will stay cool for podium or top 5 spot. the only person who is not willing to attack, is mollema. He wants only to protect his position. Froome will attack just to showboat his superiority of his form this year, other than that he should just watch and follow everyone attacking each other.

It may work or not, but we know he will try, as always.

Porte dropped because he was doing the pace. Its naive to think that his Ax 3 domainx form, where he was easily 2nd best climber, totally disapeared overnight.

Can't see him sticking it out for three days though. He'll have to ride for Froome when everyone else is dropped and people start attacking on Thursday.

I can see everyone (well its only Nairo + AC isn't it) waiting til the second ascent to attack though so that'll help what's left of Sky.

you mean only quintana and contador? the rest is going to hang on their gc placing. Like for example: mollema.

That was some unusual downhill attacking today. Too bad he fell off his bike. Hope he doesn't lose a podium spot tomorrow. Quintana looks hungry.

You guys are taking Froome well out of context, anyone would react like that after being 2nd in two GT's(that he would o won) and being in this great position. One thing is for sure if AC was in Yellow and Froome crashed and AC crashed into him you guys would be totally different, me thinks.

I said Sky would be on form for Ventoux. You mocked me for making that prediction with your usual rant about how no one but you knows anything about cycling.

I was right. You as more often than not were wrong. Black and white. When you are wrong like that you should just aknowledge it;)

you said sky would tear down ventoux, well they didn't only froome did
