Quick question:

If he's banned, would this ban take effect backdated (beginning from the positive test during TdF 2010, meaning annulment of his results from then on. So with a 1 year ban, he could race this season normally. Or would he be banned from now on and additionally get his results (beginning from TdF 2010) taken away from him?

Judge can decide. If he gets a two year ban and starts now then he will keep his tdf and giro title. If not then all his races will be taken off him and he would not be allowed to race for about 6 months. It is probably more possibilities than that.

Whatever the decision, is sad to think that if Contador was a midpack pro, regardless of guilt, he'd have had a 2 year ban, and this would quite possibly might have ended his career, no wages/racing for 2 years. As it is his finances and fame (same as Armstrong) will have had a huge bearing on this case.

And whatever the outcome, they'll always be a large group of people who are furious with the leniency/severity of the sentence.

 THEY ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE ANYTHING FROM ALBERTO!!! I'M GOING TO MAKE SURE THEY WON'T.

Dearest LaFlorecita, It´s rumors, nobody knows the verdict outside CAS, you can be sure of that! Be calm girl, I´m pretty sure Berti made a good impression in court, and I´m also pretty sure WADA fvcked up their transfusion argument.

Ok, so it's all up to the judge(s), that was basically my question. Thx.

No matter what, he will get stripped hes 2010 tour win if hes find guilty, nothing can change that, he can´t win a race where he were doped, pure and simple.

This is true. The wonderful rationality of universal laws and equal treatment work fine in heaven. For us, we work on different, more complex and ultimately ugly principles.

Going to be a long few hours for you. Try not to get too worked up over it.

Doesn't the ban come from the 2010 TDF? Therefore only a 2 year ban will result in a current ban from racing. It would mean a return during the 2012 Vuelta. I think this would be interesting to see if he could win by 10+ minutes, seriously. And the rest of season could still be interesting, with numerous riders giving themselves a chance to win the TDF, and with more focusing on the TDF, perhaps a couple of others will give the Giro a go (like Kloden, even though the parcours doesn't suit).

Overall though, I think it's a little worse for the racing if AC is banned, because then we will not see him get to try to take back his TDF title.

Just get the decision over and done with...finally.

All depends on whether or not the ban is backdated.
