This is getting into a tricky field though. Would you support the entire Novo Nordisk team not being able to race as their diabetes meds allow them to race safely and is therefore performance enhancing? What about Dowsett and his haemophilia?

The entire topic of TUE's is a grey area. Each and every medication and condition is different, this is what makes it so tough to regulate.

So when it comes to TUEs, if the rules need to be tougher then maybe some people cant ride due to inherent conditions. So Dowsett is a Haemophiliac, but then how many others could suddenly be so (at the diagnosis of their doctor)? And then all of a sudden we have a peloton full of Haemophiliacs.

Much like a peloton full of asthmatics ...

Luckily conditions like haemophilia and type 1 diabetes are discovered at a very young age and can't simply be diagnosed out of nowhere. Also elite athletes with haemophilia are extremely rare, I can't find info on anyone with a high profile other than Dowsett.

Absolutely - I agree. And if no TUEs were allowed then some of these riders would never have had their careers. Harsh for them but unfortunately there would have to be losers from tightening the rules to stop the misuse of TUEs.

Well this is just screwing over (potentially) clean riders in that they can't race at all. Yet that's exactly what dopers are doing in the first place. You've just changed the criteria for whose getting screwed by the dopers (since you're presumably making these rules harsher solely because of dopers.) They win again.

It's too much of an f*** you to people who have already had a big f*** you when they got diagnosed with medical problems that were no fault of their own.

Yea it's a really hard to issue to police, but it's not beyond our capabilities ...
