You might think we're this tiny, miniature country where everything's around the corner.... But we ain't that small, and traffic is horrible.

Would you automatically go all the way to Perth if the 'biggest Australian race of the year' was located there?

It takes 38 hours straight of total driving from melb to perth!

From den helder to maastricht it takes 3.25 hours of driving.

I take your point that the Netherlands aren't that small, but don't go comparing yourselves to Australia. That is a fight you are not going to win.

3.25 HOURS!?! Are you high?

It takes about 3.25 hours to get past the gigantic freeway f-ck-up that we have around Eindhoven.

Maybe, on Christmas day at 4 in the morning.
The rest of the year you'll be stuck in traffic every 10km.

Get what you're saying but you can't honestly be comparing ANY drive across the Netherlands to a trip to Perth.

294 for the holland trip
3423km for aus trip.

please don't compare a minnow like you to a giant like aus. you won't win.

Unless you are not used to drive more then 20km a day, because everything beyond 20k will be considered a major "drive" in people's perception in a small country.

It's all relative ;)

Any major contenders that didn't start?

Holland is like a crammed bookshelf. No room for anything else other than people. australia has room for everything.

Then why is my city surrounded by agricultural nothingness?
Having room is nice, having a climate that actually allows you to do something with that room is even better.

But enough of this ;)

seriously publicus, comparing a trip across perth from melb and a trip across holland is ludicrous. two very different trips.

Again, is treatment of the natives really something the Dutch are in a position to lecture people about :p
