I'm hoping that there aren't a lot of little kids watching in the Netherlands because Smeets just said that Sinterklaas (Dutch Santa Claus) doesn't exist.
Needless to say this was news to me.![]()

They used to finish in Maastricht, now it's on Cauberg. Waiting as long as possible is rewarded that way.
In Fleche Wallone everybody just waits for the Mur. In LBL there used to be a select group after Redoute, now 15-20 guys at St. Nicolas is nothing strange. In Lombardy Ghisallo is done calmly by the favorites so they have an explosion left in the last 10km....
After weeks of racing where the favorites attacked as early as 70km from the finish this is always disappointing. The EPO years were way more exciting for hill classics.
Jamsque said:Of course dutch Santa doesn't exist. British Santa, on the other hand, is as real as you and I.
Moondance said:The modern (19th c. onwards) Santa was actually derived from Sinterklaas..... Right down to the 'comes in through the chimney' thing.
