Wow, these colour combinations in the Intermarche riders‘ look is just so great: when they wear arm and legwarmers, then this yellow flue at clothing and bike. Just a great, great look. And in the meantime, the riders not only present a great look - they have begun to start winning bike races last year (and even important ones)…

By the way, 2012 and 2016 Amstel winner Gasparotto is in Bora‘s team car today, working as a DS, together with Aldag. Must be a special feeling for Gasparotto, being at „his“ Amstel…

The finale is obviously a highly local and twisty, so there's no "headwind in finale" or "tailwind in finale" but it's probably important to note that the Eyserbosweg will likely have a block headwind and the Keutenberg a cross tailwind.

The Italian NT really did Gaspa dirty by never selecting him for a WC, but Cassani always liked his golden boy Ulissi. Not selecting Enrico in 2014 when Ulissi was suspended was a joke...

I don't think the race has ever been broadcast in full, and I doubt it will happen in the near future. The Netherlands just isn't as crazy about cycling as Flanders. And the opening hours of the race have rarely been consequential, so I'm not sure we'll be missing much.

Alright. I just love those first few hours long broadcasts just as some background entertainment on TV. It's kind of like a relaxing white noise for me .

I but hey I remember Frankfurt Eschborn has been broadcasted from the very beginning recently, so maybe there's hope when it comes to the Amstel Gold. I mean the Dutch gotta be more cycling crazy than the Germans at least lol

Breakaway in modern cycling is still a thing but the reality is it's rather obsolete. At best one out of five to make it. It's not all bad as fortunately currently there are around five to ten cyclists in the peloton that considering the race type can compete in between them. It's not that just one or two are dominant. So lets say breakaways would be more successful but there would be one dominant rider or a team. That would in a way be much worse. For breakaway to make a return i feel that teams will need to start taking it more seriously. Much more planning, targeting and effort involved. Then the chances should increase again.

I'd say a 20% chance of making it in a WT race is high, with the exception of certain GT stages that are basically days off for the GC men.

That said, 20% chance to win a .1 race is really, really good for the Conti/Pro teams, if there are 4 or more WT teams in the race they don't have a chance otherwise.

There area also 2 kinds of breaks: The no-hopers aiming for camera time (and maybe get lucky) and the strategic breaks to send relay riders up the road or draw out the big guns in a GT. This particular break is the first kind...

Yeah, it should postpone the finale a bit. Keutenberg will be full gas, and both Cauberg and Geulhemmerberg will mostly have tailwind as well.
