Well I said I was going to 'give him one more chance but he'll probably disappoint me'. And so it has happened :(

Andy I'm DONE with you

I thought he has stabilized, but he's still swinging.
Too bad. Finishing this race would have been good for him and promising for cycling fans.

Come on Andy! We need you against the skyborgs!!

I am sooooo stealing that. :D

I like bashing the Andy, but 5 stages in a row is not that bad a result for a man scrambling for any kind of shape.

Okay the TT stage was going to be pointless for him and the last few stages have been very hard. I was hoping he would hang on. On to the next race !

It's amazing how the Andy fans are still sticking by him, despite the fact it's clear that he no longer has any motivation and should quit pro cycling altogether.

And last year he was talking all brave before the Tour of Beijing that his 2013 season started in that race. Just talk.

What the F**** is wrong with this guy? I am so sick of all this crap. I officially give up; finish a race, don't finish a race, I don't care anymore. There are hundreds more better and more exciting riders to watch! I'm done with Schleck.

You could be a little bit compassionate towards him instead of being a d**k.

With these words, you have no way back. Cheering for Andy is not for weak in spirit.

I think all the Andy fans should send a petition to Radioshack with all your signatures to express your concerns.

The guy doesn't need fan support. He needs a smack in the head!

Nothing is lost for Andy. It seems like Liege win will be impossible, but Tour wise, just remember Ullrich 2006.

Mid April, Riis sees him in Tuscany and rates him unmotivated and overweight. He finishes Romandie, his first race of the season, end April, an hour or so behind the top guys there. Then Giro shows improvement, suddenly wins Pontedera ITT.

Few weeks later, with 90% shape, wins Tour de Suisse.

He just has to stay calm now, which I think he will, and he might be there in July.

Good god, is that all he needs?! Why did nobody tell his DS or anyone else in RadioShack? If only you had come up with that months ago you could have sped his recovery up noend

I didn't say that's all he needs. But he needs THAT. People know he needs a smack in the head but no one is giving that to him because he's a spoiled brat who can officially call himself a "Tour winner". He might not want to call himself that in front of the press, but privately you think he wouldn't take that for granted? He's taking everything for granted, Frank's presence, his talents, his pay cheque.

Who knows what's going through his head just now. He looks to be struggling with fitness and moreso a desire to race. Without sarcasm he would almost be better taking more time off then coming back when Franks ban ends, fresh and motivated

I don't spend that much time posting in these threads and now I remember why. Who's better Contador or Andy Schleck? Well since he has a better grasp of English I can understand him and his jokes come across better in interviews, so maybe Andy's better. Oh, but wait, this is a bike racing forum. Humm, let us look closer. Contador, bunch of big wins, pretty competitive all season (or until he packs it in after TDF) vs. A. Schleck who............hasn't actually finished a bike race since........ well let's say nearly forever.
Recap: Contador, competes in almost every race he enters. A Schleck, doesn't finish any race he enters.
Well still pretty close, I'm gonna have to mull this over for a while.

Addendum: If we discuss it in the clinic, there is plenty to dislike about both of them.

They're all gone for now, together with those Norwegians, who only show up when they're winning 4 stages in the Tour. Those rich countries are even worse than the Netherlands, at least they'll always crowd l'Alpe d'Huez even when the Dutch are failing.

Most Luxembourg and Norwegians 'cycling fans' are just opportunists.

radioshack just posted this in their PR for today's stage.

"While great numbers of riders dropped out today, RADIOSHACK LEOPARD TREK is only concerned about one rider. Guercilena continued in regards to Andy Schleck: “We were sad to see Andy abandon. He has been improving a lot but in these conditions, he wasn’t able to follow today. His condition is coming up but on a physically demanding day like today, it just wasn’t enough. We think he still suffers psychologically from last year’s crash. We hope he continues to work through this and that it passes soon. This is the most important thing. We want our Andy back. We think he can benefit from working with someone in the effort to help him find his old self. This is important to all of us.”

It sounds like they want him to work with a psychiatrist?
I honestly feel sorry for Andy..

if you see how Wout Poels rides in Tirreno, you don´t really know what Andy´s problem is...

quoted for truth. also they are nationalist beyond anything, which is pathetic in itself anyway. I remember last year the luxemburg fans were ready to storm us if only they weren't 50 years old, fatter than hell and genderless by appearance.

It was not a big problem for other riders to abandon today. For Andy Schleck it is a big problem. Schleck *needs* to finish a race. Any race.

It is not a double standard to expect AS to finish while giving a pass to other riders. Nothing good can come from him abandoning. Not just CN message board comments, but actual cycling. He needs to get racing miles and he needs to fight though the bad spells.

He gives up far too easily at this time. He was always going to be in the "half of the peloton who did not finish today."
