He did well today and was looking good on the climb. If only he'd been in the break with Tejay, Moser, and Riblon I think he could have taken the win. Tomorrow another good opportunity for him though. Hopefully he goes in the breakaway. Allez Andy! Onward and upward. :)

Good test of legs but overall i think this tour proves that Andy is on the right track. With improving form and lots of time on his TT bike who knows what can happen next year?:)

If he had been in the break he maybe could have won it, although Van Garderen and Riblon were both really strong, it's not a given that he could have beaten them.

Otherwise it was hopeless, there was no way anyone could make up that much time to the breakaway and to stay with the yellow jersey was not an option either.

In any case, it was fun to see him and he looked good! Bridged up to the Nieve, Voeckler, Rolland, Poels group in no time, and those are not "some sh*t riders who came out of nowhere", to quote his Lordship of Wiganshire.

I think he mostly did it for the fun of it, good on him!

If that was the case, I hope he'll want to have some more fun.
With all of us anxiously waiting for it.

He maybe dug a little too deep though - in the first interview immediately after he arrived he said he was not disappointed, but rather "glad to have arrived. That was my main problem. I'm getting the chills, I really don't feel so good right now"

Maybe a bit of a hungerknock also

Weird. Lot of riders not feeling good or ill. Dan Martin reported the same.

I hope it's not a cold.
Then he might ride just to finish the race.

No not a cold, he said "goosebumps" but I translated it as "chills" because I thought goosebumps has a positive connotation and chills a negative. I didn't want people to think he had goosebumps because of the amazing atmosphere, it was rather because he was not feeling well. But it didn't sound like he meant a cold

O.K.
Sounds a lot better than what has crossed my mind.

AC may be higher up the GC but hes not exactly set the world alight has he , apart from that saxo break on the flat froome has handled him with ease .

maybe the AC fanboys will ease off andy now because it looks pretty clear to me that his best days are behind him . next year should be better for andy but can we say the same for contador .... eerrr not really !!

ever heard the saying "people in glass houses should not throw stones" !!

I find it funny that if you aren't enamoured of Schleck you are automatically assumed to be a Contador fan. Not so. The reason I'm critical of Schleck is his overly selective race programme coupled with his whining about aspects of his chosen sport.

As for writing Contador off on the basis of one Tour, that is idiotic. If next season he's further out of contention, then it'd be a valid argument. As of now he's simply having a bad race. He is only 30 after all.

Schleck isn't washed up either. I think he needs to change teams perhaps, as I don't think he's capable of racing at the top level sans Franck.

Andy really struggled today, I feel like this tour was important to him financially for his next contract but I haven't seen anything that implies he is worth money to support, especially when you have to take his baggage Frank Schleck. Maybe Astana will take a flier on these guys? They would make descent domestiques for Nibali if they are willing to put in the work

He has had bad 2 years but he is riding back into some form now which is good, no where close to where he was but we can only hope. I don't think Andy would be a domestique for anyone but i agree at the moment he is not in the same league as any contenders.

Andy was 'looming boldly' as they say in horse racing, on the final climb. Shame he fell apart :( Still he is looking better than he has since Leige last year and will continue to improve IMO.

Astana won't take him & Frank due to the MPCC is what I read. Guess there will be other options. But doesn't Trek want to keep them? Just at a reduced salary; what they are actually worth based on results over the last couple of years.

Guercilena wants to keep them. Will probably end up staying with Trek IMO.

Hope to see Andy in the break tomorrow. Not sure the break will succeed, but no harm in going in it anyway.

Well, in the end no stage win and finished 20th overall. IMO that's a fine performance for his first GT back. Expected top 30 in GC in best case scenario, so 20th is a little better then I expected. His big mistake was not going in any break though. Had he been in the breakaway on Alpe d'Huez with Tejay and Riblon, I think he would have won. Overall a fine performance IMO. I think it shows he is getting back to his best gradually. Now hopefully he goes to the Vuelta.

To add some current news, Schleck will go to the US Pro Challenge next along with Voigt, Kloden, and Machado.

Then he can't do the Vuelta.

You didn't grasp my thought a bit... :)Andy is like a luminary, a rider of absolutely special pedigree. Froome is rather Jango who grew up through the Vuelta. Though I don't see who and at the expense of what can beat Froome in upcoming years. He is the strongest rider for last 2 decades IMO ( the strongest doesnt mean the most titled surely)
