NO! Never! He can't retire. If he retired who would I talk up endlessly as the rider everyone has lost faith in that will inevitably prove everyone wrong and return to his former glory with one epic magnificent ride?

Well, I can only say I would love to see him back at his old level, also in order to shut the mouths of all the none believers... (my self included :p), but also for the sport, his talent deserved so much more than he has been giving it.

A real shame if he can´t get back, I hoped since Frank returned that it would give him the kick to come back, but it seems not to be the case and it´s why i written him off. Almost...but not fully, I still have hopes for a miracle.

Maybe it's time to rename this thread to Andy Schleck's Final Bid For Another Coveted Top 10 Tour Finish, 'Official' Thread

Andy has never recovered from that day in July 2011 when Evans humiliated him in Grenoble.

He has had 3 years to recover, but his brain and physical problems have got in the way.

Divorcing his brother might help, but I doubt it.

Time to retire - who would offer him a contract in any case when his current one is up?

As a proud Klödist I can only call such a suggestion for blasphemy!

quite a few smaller teams would be interested in having him, just becasue he is Andy. Sponsors will be very happy to have him no matter how awful he is riding.

(bare in mind that this is written before he top 3 LBL tomorrow) :D

I am expecting an attack from Andy tomorrow, if he has anything in the tank. He knows that he does not have the strength to smash everybody the way he did in '09, but he said in an interview a couple of days ago that he would rather try to be a factor by attacking than ride anonymously and come 20th.

Im so dissapointed in Andy how can you have that talent and be no one. Only thing im holding hope he is gonna do ok in his carear is he always takes it easy then sure he was not great in the TDF in 2013 but he was on TDF winning form if you compare rest if his results. Can he come good in July? No doubt this guy would have been an iconic climber one of the very best we ever sawand now were witnessing this it really is embarrasing. I genuinely dont believe he trys. Andy should top 20 LBL even with no preperation yet he will no doubt be 60th to 80th. Andy was the only guys who was as good as Contador uphill during the Tours. Considering he was younger he was probably just as good if not better.

Love to know how much he is contracted for. If this continues his next contract should be interesting. As usual the Tour will provide the answer.

The funny thing is Fuglsang was made fun of alot fr daring to leave the Schlecks for his own chance funny thing is i'd take Fuglsang over both of them any day now far more consistent. I want Andy to return i just cant see it. It would be my dream to see him drop everyone again in July even Froome.

While tv camera were showing Andy getting dropped, the italian journalists started talking about him and rumors about his future; Silvio Martinello said that the rumor among the peloton is that he would have some serious personal problems outside the sport but didnt explain what it would refer.

Years ago the rumor was that he had an alchol related problem (Vuelta episode would have confirmed that).

just heard. (sigh). Whoever still thinks he is going to be good in LBL... well, we got the confirmation now. Too bad, really really too bad. :-( Maybe the hope is TDF, but going by his rate like now, it's very not encouraging (especially knowing andy's way of working hard).

The f***ing knee injury ruined what would have surly been a glorious and epic victory. Ah well, did his job for Frank.

Time to re-load and then dominate the Tour. I predict at least a 5 minute winning margin and a minimum of 5 long range Galibier-like rides. It'll be domination on a scale we've never seen before.

totally given up hope on this guy now .

whoever thinks this guy will put up a bold show at the tour must be deluded .

total waste of talent , but i am actually starting to think all those great rides he gave during 2009-11 may have been more clinic related . how he can go from being one of the most explosive climbers of our era to what we are seeing now just does not make sense . its just embarrassing .

He is still dealing with a knee injury so I'm going to give him a pass until after the Dauphine.

As well as when that French politician tweeted (or FB?) he'd taken an elevator with him last year and that he could barely stand on his legs...he then "withdrew" his statement but he obviously hadn't made it up.

Tough day for Andy. He got injured again. But so far even before injury he hasn't shown any spark. Looks like crunch time for Trek. Andy's contract is end this year. Are they going to keep the faith for Andy' as the leader or they started to groom Arendondo and Jungles to be the leader and sign andy as just as a rider and not a leader. (maybe the pressure off will help him perform better) Dunno maybe sky is interested in signing him :D

Gilbert and Evans has gone through similar season (not injury but bad season). But they managed the win here and there and showed some bright sparks. Even his bro is back ahead of him now. Since 2011 injury, Andy hasn't gotten any spark to show other than a string of DNF. Gosh, I can't imagine to be in Andy's shoe. Things used to come so easy for him (even he got a lot of saying on the team on how, what and who he wanted. Thing seems to start to go down hill since he left Bjarne hanging dry. Karma probably? dunno). Now he is in very difficult place that he has never experienced before.

You know there's a saying a great champion will show why they are champion by conquering their difficulties and adversity (ex: Contador, Evans). Andy's difficult time now is a test of andy's character. Is he really 'a real champion'? (We know Contador is). Time will tell. ...
