I hated Rasmussen and I began to cheer for the young Spaniard who went pretty well and then when Rabo pulled Rasmussen out I was happy.

Andy is likeable and well-respected, for being a nice person with huge talent... But maybe this has turned out to be his weak point.
Wouldn´t be surprised if he lacks of motivation, now, with having Liege (2009) and the Tour (2010) to his palmares.
Now normally, his main ambition for 2012 should be the Worlds in Valkenburg, where it´s his kind of preferred race, and where he can become world champion.
Then he´d be 27 and having won the maximum he could win in his sports, and more than a guy like Kloden, not likeable at all, and ten years older, has ever won and will ever win...
And Andy did all this with bike handling skills close to David Moncoutie´s... ;) As seen in yesterdays Fleche Brabaconne once again :D

This whole post is  to me.

To be fair, he only kicked his *** on one mountain stage. Rest of his time came from the breakaway stage and Contador's flat tire.
Yeah but that was the only stage where they had a true, direct duel if I recall correctly.

I would think this being a rider's first stab at pursuing their own interests in the Tour that Contador's performance was quite impressive, going up against seasoned veteran contenders and blowing them all out of the water with the exception of one rider. Additionally Rassmussen wasn't really expected to be a contender that year since he'd always gone for KOM points in his pursuit of the polka dot jersey. His completely uncharacteristic performance in the ITT and his opponents' teams expectation that giving him a bit of rope in his efforts to collect KOM points (logically thinking that they would reel him in in the gc in the TT), allowed him quite the buffer for his eventual advantage. Still, he showed that he was the strongest in the mountains and he had to have been motivated by his precipitous fall in the standings after his disasterous ITT performance in the previous Tour.

Contador and Levi were killing themselves trying to attack while Rasmussen rode provocatively easily and drove away fans with a disparaging gesture. Chicken's reserve was grandiose. Indeed that Tour was a culmination of doping era.

No one liked Rasmussen and that was his whole problem. If only he'd smiled once or twice and given some bogus story about a getaway to Cancun everything would have been fine. Instead he was super creepy all the time and brought his lawyer everywhere he went. Had he been the least bit sympathetic he could have gotten away with it

Come'on you know that's not true. Plateau de Beille for starters.

I'm not sure he would've won the Tour if it wasn't for his breakaway. He was the strongest in the mountains, there's no doubt about that. But he did lose time to Contador in the 2 time trials, so could have been a pretty interesting fight.

Ah yes, one of the more 'in your face', over the top doping performances by both riders. I think there were posts about it in the Clinic. Ras and Conti, Conti doing the super sprint up the climb, but even when they backed off they were climbing faster than everyone else.

Yuppers, and he has DNF'd 4 times. A 1/3 race completion ratio ... something to appreciate :p (if you appreciate failing )

Keeping his price with such horrible record is something to appreciate

After Aubisque:

1 Michael Rasmussen (Den) Rabobank 76.15.15
2 Alberto Contador Velasco (Spa) Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team 3.10
3 Cadel Evans (Aus) Predictor - Lotto 5.03
4 Levi Leipheimer (USA) Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team 5.59

All was set for a four-way battle for the win ;)

Poor Levi, an entire life waiting his chance under LA and his helper is a young prospect named Contador:D

You guys should start a support group. Dealing with your favourite rider being a convicted doper. No Rasmussen fans allowed, we hate that guy. Hopefully I shall never have to join you ...
