Well I wasnt alive in 1904 but i still know Maurice Garin won that tour but was later stripped of the title.. If the history books shows that, they would probably also show Contador winning the 10 tour

Sky train (which originated Astana train).

This, the 2012-2-15 Sky train would have brought Andy back on the Galibier on even before. At worst if the Sky train was Evans team they would have got him within a minute on the climb and Evans would have caught him on his own and passed him.

The 2012-2015 Sky train would have Andy isolated in a head group with 5 sky riders, by the end of the Agnello.

Can you give any single example of 5 sky riders isolating any big rider in grand tour?

I personally do not think being second to Contador twice ( one of the best GT riders) and Evans once (top 5 GT rider of the last 15 years) is anything to be be ashamed of though

Once. That's what the official results say, and if you think otherwise, you should probably take it to The Clinic.

In this case twice was definitely right. The original comment was about Andy not really feeling like a Tour winner so the respond was that even if he only got 2nd twice its still an impressive career.
Btw, he was also 2nd in the giro 2007. I always feel as if that race is already completely forgotten.

It probably lessened his motivation (yes, I know about injuries), and in comparison with successes of his nemesis that "win" rung that much hollower. All that left him bitter and frustrated.

Wow, seeing this picture really makes me miss Andy. He could have lightened up recent GT's. It's so weird to think about the fact that he's the same age as Froome.

Was it the crash in that windy Dauphine time trial that caused the injury that ultimately did him in? Shame he ended up retiring so young.

Nope, it's his last crash in the stage 3 of TDF 2014 who has destroyed his knee and definitely stopped his career (acl + meniscus damage). Even now he's wearing a knee pad when he practises sport.

Yeah. But the troubles begin in Dauphine 2012 or even when Bruyhnel get the merge with Leopard.

It's funny to see that now everybody miss him after all the hate he get back then.

Yeah, sorry. Shouldn't have responded to the initial post.

It's possibly been mentioned before, but I think Andy is a prime example of how talent isn't always enough. You need to work as well, and I think I've heard several people - himself included - say that hard Work wasn't exactly his strongest side.
Back during the Saxo Days Danish TV asked all the riders on that year's Tour team who the laziest rider was, guess who everyone pointed at... though he claimed that he was just relaxed.

As much as I'd like to think Contador and Schleck get along, getting a signed jersey from the guy who's ban got you your Tour is bound to be weird and unnecessary.
