As per the rules, Andy won the Tour. Simple as that. You could argue about the 2011 Giro, but the 2010 Tour is not and cannot be an issue. It's crystal clear.

Agree with this. The Giro is a (very) grey area, but Alberto was DQed from the Tour as anyone else has been (Astarloza, Landis, Mayo, Kohl, Fofonov, Schumacher etc) for a similar offence - i.e. tested positive during the race but not until the race had finished

Oh see the haters agree. Of course they do.

So. Andy "won" the tour. But he says he doesn't see it as a win, he said that he will always see Alberto as the champion (same for Scarponi). Then why don't they just refuse to accept the jersey? But of course you two don't understand that.

If you ask me Contador won the giro 11, no doubt about that, but then again he got a ban in the tour 10, that means that he shall be dqed.

Wheter or not Andy and Scarponi look upon them selvfes as winners, not to take the jersey would gain them nothing but trouble.

With regards to the bolded part, I dont care. Thats just the way I feel and you should respect every opinion on Contador whether you agree with it or not. You are entitled to be a fan of Contador as much as I am entitled to be a critic. And anyway I am no fan either of the Schlecks just to make that clear. But you cant be blaming ASO for all this debacle. What did they do wrong in all of this?

:D "I'm entitled to be a fan" lol doesn't seem like that. Remember that you told me there is "something wrong with me" because I'm a fan?

It's not a matter of opinion, it's right there in the rules. If you test positive during a race, you're DQed, and whoever ended up below you gets your spot. It is (or used to be) different if you're DQed after testing positive in a different race or OOC, which is another reason why the Giro is a grey area.

Andy doesn't see it as a win because he's the same as Contador. Refusing the jersey, however, would mean upsetting the race organizers and his sponsors. Not worth it, when it's not like Contador has been wronged as per the rules.

Of course he was disqualified. Of course he is no longer the official winner of the tour and all those other races. But we all know who won, unless you have a case of amnesia.

Scarponi and Andy should show balls. The organisers aren't going to kill them because they don't accept the jersey. But of course they will accept it. Especially Andy will probably be sooo happy because he finally won the tour. He will probably feel he deserves it.

Those ceremonies are making me sick. Effectively erasing 1 and a half year of someone's life is not a good thing. Other fans of Alberto will understand me. Of course haters won't. They are happy they can now dismiss Alberto as the winner. They are happy he's banned, but it would be even better if he is put in jail, like Wiggins suggested.

I don't know if it was posted and where it should be posted, but Andy gets an official ceremony on 29 may when they'll present him the maillot jaune (if my understanding of luxembourgish (sp?) is correct.

This is the problem with you fangirls. Andy has said countless times he doesn't care about the jersey, he doesn't feel like he won the Tour, you win it on the road, not a reason to celebrate. And you've read it. I know you have. And this is what you take from it.

But of course your signature enables you to say anything without concern to reason or logic.

Okay, I know the rules. For me it's about the fact that andy is actively participating in something that can be seen as a huge FU to someone that was his friend not long ago, and who still sees him, Andy, as his friend. That's my problem. Oh, and that the ASO were probably oh so happy when Alberto was banned, and that Prudhomme will talk **** like how Andy is the true winner, and that cheats should be banned for life, etc. I just hope that there will continue to be someone in the way for Andy, as long as it's not wiggo or Evans, I don't care who it is. This whole sport is ****ed up, with ****ed up people everywhere. I'm done with it, the bad things outnumber the good ones. I don't understand why I keep following this sport. There are just people in it that make it no longer nice to follow. It only hurts me time after time after time, and every time I think it can't possibly hurt me more, it does. But I know myself, I probably can't stay away. I need to see the good things. But with every good thing I see, I also find 3 things that hurt me.

Yes was posted before, hence the discussion

That's what he says in the press. He feels bitter about it, because Alberto stole the win from him. Stole the attention, stole the fame. Of course he won't say that in the press. I don't believe anything Andy says anymore. Didn't he say that if Alberto was banned, that that would be because he did something illegal? And now he says he believes Alberto. Yeah right.

Guess what, it wasn't Andy's fault. He was the fastest guy among those who weren't caught - why would he turn down the jersey? Stop acting like Contador was wronged - HE WASN'T. For all your talk about ASO being happy, the fact is that Contador was PROTECTED by the UCI. It's just hilariously sad that you can go on on a tirade about the sport being full of ****ed people when the guy you defend so irrationally is actually one of the worst offenders in that regard.

And you can't hide behind your fangirlism and say everybody is out to get poor Alberto, the victim, and how unfair everybody is and how they say mean stuff about Contador, because that goes out of the window the moment you start talking crap about Andy or anyone else and trying to put it like they're at fault here. If you can't take the heat...

I was trying to imagine what will go on at the ceremony.

I don't know. Usually at these official events it's all about the glory, the positive (no pun intended ;), pr etc. Why would they even want to draw more attention to the dark side. This belated ceremony is already embarrassing enough...

It might be more like:

Yaaaay Andy won the tour. Period.

Okay FINE. You just don't understand me, just like everyone else on this stupid forum. I'm not going to explain my train of thought AGAIN.

Which is already bad enough. But still, they drew attention to that dark side at the pereiro ceremony. ASO hate Alberto, they'd rather see him never again in one of their races.

Now that airstream has left, can we rename this the Alberto Contador martyrdom thread?

When you make posts like that how do you expect anyone to have a rational discussion with you?
