Armstrong's PR War - the tactics

Armstrong has millions of dollars invested towards public relations. His image has been getting ripped apart in recent days, but he is fighting back. Armstrong himself, Livestrong, his PR people, his legal team - they all are focused on the same goals. Any article, TV show, blog, forum, etc. that is critical of Armstrong must be diluted with Armstrong's side of the story.

Some of the tactics currently used...
- spooofing Google results with YouTube videos of Tim Herman instead of real newsworthy articles of the Armstrong USADA doping scandal
- diluting the comments sections of any article which allows for opting comments
- taking the PR battle to social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, etc.
- getting forum administrators to give moderator priveleges to Armstrong sympathetic supporters
- manipulating forum websites and creative posts to divert attention away from the Armstrong doping scandal

Funny thing is, the team is paid to do this. They will bleed him dry until there is no life left to suck out of it. Then they leave.

Lance/Livestrong without money is nothing. Just a memory.

They've also made sure that Livestrong.org pages populate the top of a Google search, instead of Livestrong.com. The .com site used to dominate the Google search (obviously because it's the for-profit money-maker) but for just as obvious reasons things have changed.

Will be interesting to see how much longer Demand Media agrees to keep doing this.

At the moment, Nike is paying him $7.5 million a year.
Who knows what Michelob is paying him?
Not to mention his other investments and business tie-ins.
Livestrong, L.A Foundation, his cancer awareness schtick, I'm sure they are set up in such a way that he won't be lacking for cash for many years to come.

Don't forget this latest technique. Highly likely to be in use also by team Sky looking at their member's wiki profiles. Internet history cleansing. Reputation.com.

Armstrong's PR team has hired people to subvert forums such as this. You guys can figure out how.

And they have been for a long time now. It's not so much of an issue here as very few will buy the bile they spew, but they are far more effective in other places. The last two here were dispatched in relatively short order, but should the apparatus decide to actually bring a modicum of professionalism to their game and make things a challenge for a change, they should be aware that there are some who are prepared for such things. And thus we sit. Waiting.

Given Sky and LA are modifying wiki pages via paid-for services, does it follow that both camps would use people on forums to muddy or attempt to modify the message presented here?

Armstrong's PR team is trying like crazy to control the media, but more and more condemning articles worldwide keep popping up. And many of them don't have a comments section at the bottom tht they can manipulate.

I do keep seeing that liar Tim Herman on TV though. He comes across so stupid. I don't know how they think his lies are going to change public opinion.
