Unlike Almeida, Merckx has never won the Portuguese NC...

But how on Earth did he only win the Belgian RR once? Did he sell the victories to the highest bidders for the rest of his career?

He is skipping MSR because he was ill the past few weeks, which means he's not good enough to play a role in MSR. He is reading Nokere Koerse though.

I thought he was head of performance for all of Lotto, and on top of that I thought he was still there in 2024, but apparently I'm wrong on both accounts.

Segaert only trained his brother and some u23 riders, that's it. De Lie changed from Dingemans (he is head of the training team) to Bille after last years spring cause he wanted to be with someone "closer" to him.

Sometimes I do wonder if that was a bad decision tho. He "punished" dingemans for his bad 2024 spring, but that was before he realized the reason was lyme. He thought it was the bad altitude camp, but I've always thought that was just cope. I mean he literally flew in Omloop a bit more than a week after Teide. Then crashed in Samyn. How can you judge based on that? Now he doesn't want to go on altitude anymore...

They mean that there's a lot of guys with an unspecified illness. Could be a cold, the flu or Ebola or something inbetween.
I think it's Ebola for them all.

And that's not how the quotation marks work. It makes it sound like it's not illness but something else which makes your point very mysterious.

I don't particularly think that was what Rob was alluding to.
I took it as implying people are being systematically overtrained or something. Like when Asgreen wasn’t recovering for no reason a couple years ago so QS shelved him for the rest of the year. Anyways that’s where my mind went.

Very disappointing performance today, clearly something is wrong and I don’t see this being fixed this spring. Maybe just focus on the Tour again.

A year a half ago WVA had trouble holding his wheel in the EC in Netherlands Col du Vam.
What happened to those legs.

Not sure if it'll help, but perhaps time for a new team and fresh surroundings.
