Allan Davis told the Bundaberg paper that he has been promised a co leader role for the Tour De France.

He said Vino will be for the overall and mountain stages, while he will be going for sprints as well as victories in those stages which are difficult enough to put other sprinters in difficult but easy enough for him to get over the parcours. So I believe he means the smaller mountain stages.

The other implication is Roman is not a leader at the Tour De France.

Seeing how all these months after season's end he was repeatedly saying that he will be going all out at Giro, why anyone should expect him even to show up at TDF?

Though some rumours had it that he could take part (depending on situation) but only as super-domestique.

Good for Davis, anyway. Though if he is going to employ Hushovd point greedy strategy, Hushovd himself might have something to say about that.

If he won't be too busy fighting with Farrar for the position of the sole rider in the team, that is.

Yes, Vino would like to have him there, but Roman would rather prefer to prepare for Vuelta, but it will depend on situation, they will decide after Giro.

For now Tiralongo plans to go Giro and then Vuelta assisting Kreuziger in both.

Am i the only one who feels a hint of insecurity about Kreuziger's chances ("in Giro, officially Roman will be our captain, and then we will see as it goes")?

Or it's just Paolo hoping to take over captain role?

btw. Is it only me who thinks that the profile pictures are strange and look like caricatures? http://www.astana.lu/index.php?page=Roster
Photographer is just ripping off Platon's (the photographer) technique.

I kinda like this style. It's gimmicky, yes, but shots made with this style looks more solid to me, more personal, making persons character traits seem to pop out of the screen/paper.

With that said -- team photographer wasn't as good with capturing riders' characters as Platon.

Tiralogo maybe hopes to be a leader, but Kreuziger will show him which way the wind is blowing... :)[/url]

i don't know why but i think it'll be the other way around.i see roman cracking big time on zoncolan and i still remember that tiralongo was designed to be co-leader with vino in giro 2010 but he crashed.

and i will be goddamn shocked if neither roman or tiralongo won't go help vino in le tour.i don't think there is any chance to see the killer or pellizotti in astana colours so unfortunately it won't be a really strong team for tour de france.

about the photos, yes professional cyclists are really weird people.

Yeah it kinda seems so, with most of the teams' heavy duty riders going to Giro (Tiralongo, Petrov, Masciarelli, Kiserlovsky, Kesiakoff (?)).

Yet they've apprently announced three targets for TDF already?.. Davis hunting for points, team going for team classification and Vino going for podium.

Hm.

Fair play to Kreuzinger going for Giro Vuelta
I rekkon we may see a similar Astana @ Giro and Tour though, wouldnt be surprised if the team leader at the Giro ends up being Kiserlovski, he was top 10 last year
Astana has 3 very good riders there

Assan Bazayev, Alexander Dyachenko, Dmitriy Fofonov, Maxim Gourov, Maxim Iglinskiy, Valentin Iglinskiy, Roman Kireyev, Yevgeniy Nepomnyachshiy, Sergey Renev and Andrey Zeit. The Italians Enrico Gasparotto and Paolo Tiralongo , Allan Davis (Australia), Andriy Grivko (Ukraine), Joseph Jufre (Spain), and Gorazd Stangelj (Slovenia) should all ride strongly.

astana's roster for le tour minus one:

Alexandre Vinokourov
Remy di Gregorio
Dmitriy Fofonov
Andriy Grivko
Mamim Iglinskiy
Roman Kreuziger
Fredik Kessiakoff
Evgeny Petrov
Paolo Tiralongo
Tomas Vaitkus

probably without fofonov?too many rouleurs...they want a good TTT i guess

I think Fofonov will participate at the Tour. He is 34 now and last year, as I remember, De La Fuente arguably was chosen for the Tour and Dmitriy was crossed out of the list. Maybe the team will pay Fofonov for the last year dismissal.

Zeits probably will be engaged as well and Max Iglinskiy not to mention, so it's gonna be a pretty Kazakh team for the Tour:)

As for Kessiakoff: seems like the probability for him being listed for the Tour is quite low, taking into account his average season so far.

I agree that TTT will be of weakness for the team, but hopefully they won't loose too much time.

saint moritz we're pumping up!

Les 10 coureurs en stage à Saint-Moritz : Alexandre Vinokourov (KAZ), Rémy Di Grégorio (FRA), Dmitriy Fofonov (KAZ), Maxim Iglinskiy (KAZ), Andriy Grivko (UKR), Fredrik Kessiakoff (SUE), Roman Kreuziger (TCH), Paolo Tiralongo (ITA), Tomas Vaitkus (LIT) et Andrey Zeits (KAZ).

so no petrov and i guess no zeits either although he had a very good year.he will fight for the place with kessiakoff.
overall, this will be one of the strongest teams out there i'm sure.
