Bravo for Samuel. He knows what the true results were, and he doesn't feel cheated, so I'm not sure why the hater/"fans" feel so cheated/justified. Let the "authorities" doctor the results all they want. Samuel, Andy and Michele Scarponi all know what the real results were. No matter how righteous the "anti doping" troops want to get, the riders know what happened on the road. The AC haters should chill, the CAS verdict is based on absolutely pathetic logic. Nobody but haters feel good about this verdict. But in the end, AC will be back soon, and I'll wager, he will whip ****, all over again. :D

In the interest of disclosure you should tell us how you're related to AC ?

I took that he didn't get to stand on the podium, etc as to why he was so unenthused about third. As for his take on Contador's verdict he doesn't say anything that isn't inaccurate about the verdict. I believe the verdict included the notion that the most likely source of the clenbuterol was tainted supplements. Whether you agree with the verdict and its findings or not is another story.

Samu has been saying this since the day Contadors clen was announced.

He wrote articles about it, he was posting on Contadors page with support, he said things like " TDF without Contador is like Rolland Garros without Nadal".

Just because some fans don't know whats going on doesnt mean we should have threads which title a rider a "**** bag".

Could a mod change the thread title so it doesnt contain a swear word?

As for the article its good to see Samu is well prepared. I like the fact that he cant wait for the first win already and cant wait to get racing. Nice attitude, better than those who merely do it all for July.

What response were you expecting?
Yeah, I am happy a doper got caught and I am rightfully in the podium even though I dope too. He has to say something when asked about it. And Contador is his friend, so it makes it a moot point to hear his reasoning anyway. And realize that he cannot even say the word doper to Contador because of the CAS ruling explanation.

I'm struggling to see what is wrong with what Sánchez has said here.

"The CAS ruling has said that Alberto probably didn't dope, so it's a bit ridiculous to start pretending he wasn't there"
"The feeling of being on the Tour podium is kind of hollow since I didn't actually get to stand on the Tour podium, just been informed by letter 18 months after the fact"

I get the feeling a lot of people want riders to start doing things they can't feasibly actually do. It's like the people who were upset with Óscar Pereiro when he had his meltdown on Punto Pelota, because he didn't go into his own doping or turn it into a confession booth. What do you want Samu to do, go "SAMU, HELL YEAH!!! I'M ON THE PODIUM BABY!!! CONTADOR IS EVIL SCUM!!! SCUM SCUM SCUM!!! PS HERE IS THE LIST OF PEOPLE I KNOW WHO HAVE USED DOPING PRODUCTS!!! I'M SAMUEL SÁNCHEZ!!!"?

As long as the UCI, sponsors and the bulk of cycling fans don't care about PEDs and cheating, Samu won't care either.

Eh, Pereiro went beyond simply "not confessing" by saying the likes of Valverde and Contador were innocent.

I'd be pretty vexed if someone ahead of me in the results was later removed. If your not concerned one can only assume that you condone that behavior and therefore a likely doper too.

It almost seems that Contador losing the win is a bit more personal to him than it should be.

"Me getting 3rd is zero consolation since my clean and honest friend got the maximum punishment despite not doping".

Wonder if he thinks that Contador shouldn't have been banned full stop?

Well I can tell you that without problem, he has said that from the start of this whole thing.

But the thing is, he's not complaining about being 3rd or being unfussed about it. It's that his Tour podium didn't come with stepping onto the podium in Paris, it came in the mail 18 months later. It's not really such a cause for celebration that way. He doesn't get the photos of him on the podium, he doesn't get the champagne. All he gets is a mention in the updated record books, in which case 3rd isn't that big a deal to him, it will be swiftly forgotten. He doesn't get the cherished memories of it, instead he has the agony of just missing out... until a letter came in the post long after he'd got over it.

He also talked of his pride in standing on the podium to win the KOM in 2011, so perhaps if he'd not had that moment of celebration, he might have thought differently of the promotion to 3rd.

But he could have been on the podium if ****ador hasn't used a blood transfusion on the rest day - that would really **** me off !

Yeah, I dunno. Did you see Sammy Sanchez's face when he won the Olympic gold? Look it up if you haven't. Imagine him actually getting second (say, Rebellin won the sprint) and then not getting confirmation that he had won the gold until 18 months later, and getting it in the mail. Do you think his face would be the same? I don't. So I think I understand his reaction.

Can we send him honourary forum access to the clinic so he can see what people really think of these retards.

What is wrong with what he said?
“I think that the penalty imposed on Alberto was unjust and excessive, especially when they recognized that he had not doped. Finishing third in that way does not make me happy, as I’ve got no memories and emotions of the moment. It’s come out of the blue without me being able to savour it,” he admitted.

Either you're reading more into his words, or English is far from your first language.

The first sentence is referring to his friend, what would one expect him to say? "Hang the doper"?

The second is in no way, shape or form condoning doping. All he is saying is he can't get excited about it as he missed out on the podium etc.

Maybe before being allowed to post in the Clinic we should insist on a reading, writing & reasoning test?

Sanchez is spot on regarding that CAS kinda recognized that AC wasnt doped. This is what Sanchez says:
"“I think that the penalty imposed on Alberto was unjust and excessive, especially when they recognized that he had not doped"

and this is what CAS writes:
"The Panel concluded that both the meat contamination scenario and the blood transfusion scenario were, in theory, possible explanations for the adverse analytical finding but were however equally unlikely. In the Panel’s opinion, on the basis of the evidence adduced, the presence of clenbuterol was more likely caused by the ingestion of a contaminated food
supplement."

Thats the thing about Strict Liability that ppl should keep in mind: sometimes non-dopers will be caught in the net and banned. Maybe some collateral is what the sport needs in order to clean up but we should all remember the limitation of Strict Liabiliity. AC broke the rules and got banned but most likely did not dope according to CAS

Read CAS's verdict again and show me where they say its likely that he transfused
