I took lessons as per wife's direction prior to marriage...it was better than sliding across the pavement in lycra while on a solo ride.

One evening, I showed up in shorts, as did our instructor. He asked me about where all my hair was and I asked him why his thighs were like tree trunks.

Turns out he was a very good amature sprinter who had stopped racing a season or 2 prior to my arriving on the scene.
