I am not sure if contador will be as good as he was at the last tdf... infact I think he's getting a bit overrated as a rider these days...... He is obiviously brilliant but i think only at one gt has he looked brilliant.... although he did win 2 in one year :S but still I dont think he has proved himself as unbeatable yet... if he does the same in this tdf as the last one then I will be convinced........ But I think basso on top form can give him a great battle.. maybe he can run him closest right now.

I do think contador is a great rider though.

Bro, it's been reported that Contador will ride the Giro again next year, you would wager money on him being able to win both. Ok, we know about the program side of things, it still takes a lot to win both.

I think Contador could do the double. A Giro as hard as this year's would be a big problem, though; and this year's Giro was so spectacular that the race director is sure design a similar route for next year.

You're doing exactly the same with regards to Basso now. Was he really that much stronger than in last year's Vuelta, or was it the opposition? I think the latter. Before the Giro started, people were complaining about how weak the field was, and now Basso's won and suddenly he's able to challenge Contador? The only two riders who had a realistic chance of beating him, Evans and Sastre, obviously weren't in top condition, due to illness and injuries.

I mean, he was strong in the Giro, but let's not overdo it.

Floyd Landis told us exactly why the Giro-Tour double has not been possible for a decade. Two and half liters of blood takes more time to harvest than the time between the two races. This is why Armstrong not only never won the double but never rode the Giro before 2009. If the passport is working--that is a big if--then we should see a rider able to win both in a season

How did indurain pull it off twice? Was it easier to dope regularly with epo?

As for basso doing the double I think he would be doing very well to podium. Conti could probably do it if he decided to risk the tour win.
