Last year's second place van Poppel is present, but UAE are here with Wellens who'll be racing against De Lie again after their race at the Renwei Tour.
If Milan can get over the lumpy bits he should be the favourite in a bunch sprint.

Trek and Alpecin both line up a pretty bad team for the climbs, so I guess that could potentially give the attackers a better chance, as it will take longer to get organized. But someone will probably help with the chase anyway.

They shortened the race by one of the 21k mid-race laps across Mönkloh, so it should still finish about as scheduled.

This is in the same spot as Frankfurt till last year. Almost no punchers coming here and every team with a sprinter so almost no one even wants to try. Parcours with those Waseberg ascents isn't even that bad. You could make a difference on it if you want but almost no one wants to.

At least Aranburu is trying.

Literally no team really riding. One of the worst races of the season.

Should be Milan vs Philipsen now

I have to listen to it in Italian, surely that's better than some of the ES english announcers.

Yeah it's just a big bunch sprint. Makes sense that Alpecin and Lidl want this, but Soudal sans-Merlier should've gone harder. Same with UAE, and a few of the others.

The issue is just that Wanty, Alpecin, Soudal, Lotto, Bora, Lidl all have a genuine chance at a podium (or win) in a sprint. Ineos for some reason have also decided this but I think that says more about their current state of affairs than anything else.

Lovely work from Kooij, chaotic sprint with Milan boxed in until about 50m to go and Philipsen just like somewhere
