Also, nice touch with the blurry camera lens which made the stage more memorable.

Why can't Belgian people ever produce a results list within a reasonable time-frame?
It's not like back then when you had to sit in the evening and refresh the cycling4all site just to see that your favorite rider ended up 17th in some minor race. But yeah, Belgian races tend to be slow with the full results.

I wasn't able to watch, what happened with Sagan? I've never really thought of him as a primadonna except when that motorcycle collided with him in 2015 Vuelta.

So you're a primadonna if you are pissed at a guy who drives into you through no fault of your own, and in the process does enough damage to you so that you need to abandon the race??

Alright then.

Naa you never have a point if you do it like that after the finish when everyone can see it. Just wait till the next morning, or go to their bus and do it like a normal civilized person.
And yes Vermeersch isn't an angel, but it was echelons all day, from what I understood Vermeersch just bumped into him trying to get in someone's wheel. Echelons are chaotic, these things happen. It's just bad luck for Remco, I understand you're frustrated, but it's the way he said those things that annoy me. And it's not the first time.
I actually like it. It's honest. Maybe it's not always right, but at least we get to see his real emotions rather than some polished media-trained empty drivel.

It's easier to have an opinion about Remco than Gianni because the one is far more famous and hyped than the other. And the bigger the name, the bigger the chance for negative judgement.

However, what Boes said is totally right, and believe me when I say this: Vermeersch is much less appreciated in the bunch than Remco. He is known to be a jerk on the bike, even back when he was a U23 cyclocrosser among the pros.

Is this post-race anger classy by Remco? Not really. Does this make him insufferable? Also no. He's young and ambitious and probably annoyed multiple times by road pirate Vermeersch. Who I btw respect as a good cyclist and I don't mind him riding good results.
I hate this Remco kid. Act normal, every race he starts flaming someone else
You should see the shannagans that Gianni Vermeersch gets into in a regular bases.
He's responsible for quiete few incidents/crashes this year alone.

So I argue for once Remco prolly has a point. No use bitching about it though. Race is over, don't lose energy over things you can't change.

Based on his performances in the classics Vermeersch definitely wouldn't be an undeserving pick for the World Championships in his home country, but his behaviour is likely going to cost him. Van Aert and him aren't best buddies. Vermeersch was the one being very vocal the time van Aert got disqualified in the U23 Belgian Cyclocross Championships and the main reason he eventually got disqualified. And now this incident with Belgium's back-up plan. You need to be really, really good to get away with this kind of behaviour otherwise you might regret it later on.

Punching a car, kicking a motorcycle, and then kicking the bicycle isn't what I would consider to be mature adult behavior. Understandable, yes. Worth potentially getting property damage charges? No - not when you are a paid professional. His PR/Media management is absolutely excellent since then, so it was unlike him.

You make it sound like he destroyed a whole village in his tantrum...

I see your point of view. It is relatively commonplace in sports to have tantrums, for better or for worse. He's my favorite rider, so don't get me wrong - but when someone earlier called him a primadonna that was the only thing large enough I could think of that someone may think of. Really I don't think he is one at all...

Not making a deal out of probably non-malicious contact is not 'some polished media-trained empty drivel'. It's a normal reaction to things that happen in bike racing and you may accidentally break someone else's wheel the next day.

Making a deal publicly out of it on the other hand seems like an attempt to put pressure (which also includes the media) on a rider to stay away from Evenepoel in the pack.
