With Il Lombaria wrapped up, we can now compare the monuments of this year, which lived up to the hype, and which sucked completely? I included the WCRR, because well, it's somewhat comparable and even more prestigious

Lombardia. Was nice to watch from Ghisallo really. The other monuments this year were real letdowns.

The Vino option should have been G-W. Then I would have voted. I actually remembered Thomas from Spring more than Degenkolb  .

Wow...it's been a long season. I really had to think back and try and remember what happened in each race. I went with the Hell of the North. The Worlds is a close 2nd just because of who won.

Lombardia by a countrymile. Picking the worst would be a more interesting competition... I'd go with the Sanremo.

I'd probably have worlds above LBL, but other than that it would also be my list. Overall it wasn't a great year, the Ronde and Roubaix were disappointing, especially Roubaix, I always have very high expectations when it comes to Roubaix.

I wanted to discuss the monuments, and I didn't want the Vino option to take 90% of the votes away.

Voting one day after a (great) race while most of the others took place months ago usually leads to biased results, but there's really no contest here.

I agree with Fauniera's list except switch Worlds and Liège.

edit: one of the days I'll make a topic and poll of the best race day of 2015.

Milano-Sanremo is my favourite monument, but that's mainly because of its place in the calendar and it being, for me, the first real race of the season. In terms of racing, Lombardia.

I'm getting old, so it's hard to remember those races from the beginning of the season. PR is generally my favourite, but due to the headwind was below average this year. Lombardia had a great course and attacks from classy riders from relatively far out. So for me that was the best monument of the year.

Apart from that G-W was my favourite race of the season for racing.

Ghent Wevelgem was THE absolute best race this year.

NO discussion for those who watched the whole thing starting from approx 130-140K to go.

Unbelievable this one wasn't included. It was a once-in-a-lifetime race regarding the wind, weather and the finale.

Lombardia comes out tops easily mainly because the others were pretty dull this year.

But compared to the GW action, the race of the falling leaves was kiddies play.

Well, it's not a monument. But of course it was the best race of the year. Maybe the best of the decade.

I know... but same goes for the wccr :)

Gent Wevelgem ofc is the best race of the season. But not a monument. WCRR is basically the 6th monument nowadays, and as much to riders as monument.
