So yeah who is it.

vino deserved a seperate one, it's his last year after all :D

Lombardy convinced me, it's purito.

He didn't only podium giro/vuelta, also won multiple stages in both. Won lombardy and fleche wallone. Stages in the basque.

He could have won 2 GT's with some more luck.

And he won the uci classification. Not that it means that much but still he ****ing won it.

Purito FTW

Boonen wins best classic rider of the year, Wiggo wins best stage rider of the year, and Rodriguez takes overall. Because he did great in the classics and great in the stage races.

This.

However all people will vote for Purito today, after his win.

Will be intresting how this would look in 2 weeks time.

Why on earth does Purito lead the poll
Victories: A Monument, a semi-classic and a bunch of stage wins.

Win wise he isn't really any more impressive than Cav in '09

Because he just won Lombardia, and now leads the world tour.

Wiggins has won the Tour, but he can't win a race that lacks a TT. Also after the Olympics he hasn't shown any kind of form or motivation.

Boonen and Purito have had solo and sprint wins in many kinds of races, but Purito has the upper hand imho. He's podiumed two GT's, plus 5(!) stage wins, and he's just added a monument to his palmares. Boonen hasn't won any important race since Roubaix.

So Purito has to take this, especially since he's my favourite rider :)

3x World Cup events
The toughest stage race on the calendar, with 5x stage wins
1x Olympic Gold medal
2x World championship jerseys
5x other one day race wins
3x other stage race wins (with a combined 5x stage wins)

Jason Kenny for handing Bauge his ****, then not rising to the bait from that doper in the press conference.

Owned.

If people will persist on omitting her from the poll, people will persist in giving her write-in votes, because she's worthy.

I also considered nominating Alessandro Zanardi. Not as the absolute #1 rider of the year, but I'd probably put him in the top 10 or 20.

The thing with elite women is the incredibly HUGE gap with elite men in terms of almost EVERYTHING, starting with the budget and ending with the actual performances length and whatever.

If anything, the comparison should be more with the ESPOIRS, which says a lot...

Talking about REAL pro riders, I'm going with Purito. Impressive all year long.

NO Pippo_San I absolutely DO NOT AGREE although I do DIG your USE of CAPITAL LETTERS to make a POINT

I would consider voting BOONEN because winning TWO MONUMENTS is NO MEAN FEAT but RODRIGUEZ and WIGGINS both had AMAZING years as well with WIGGINS OPEN BRACKETS topping the CQ EFFICIENCY ALL TIME RANKING thanks to winning ALMOST EVERY RACE HE ENTERED including the TOUR DE FRANCE or as our favourite forum user ECHOES would say the BORE THE FRANCE CLOSE BRACKETS and PURITO winning A MONUMENT and podiuming TWO GRAND TOURS so it's really HARD TO CALL in my opinion

people ommit her from the bloody polls because they are not meticulous, fussy, ignorant donks. fact.
