There was even some sort of 'fight' between him and his teammates, when they begged him to be honest back in January. It was already clear much longer that this situation couldn't last, there's no mutual trust at all.

Shows why they need to figure out this TnR situation - in some guise....

Similar situation for him as for Horner; the actual lack of sponsors and no requests of WT points is making it difficult for them to find a team.

I still hope to see him racing cause when he's on a good day he does make some good show.

waiting to hear where Samu will end up...... still think that sometihng will be done with Saxo for him.

I'm thinking that with world tour points not being needed for the first time in a while, all the high risk (in terms of clinic), or potentially high risk riders are finding it hard.

Really don't see it happening. Saxo's rider have probably accepted less salary this season, since Saxo will be the only sponsor. http://www.bt.dk/cykling/riis-om-loennedgang-det-holder-vi-mellem-rytterne-og-mig

So making a big signing like Samu would be strange I think, unless he goes for minimum wage..

but Saxo have stumped up the cash to make up the shortfall from Tinkoff's exit - so the overall kitty is the same.

If Sammy / his agent have 1/2 a brain they will take a 1 year deal on a reduced salary so he can ride - and then hope for the Alonso deal in 2015. Simple... but then who know how people work..!

LuLuSancz should cost nothing... so he could be picked up for support for Berti for 'prizemoney'. Again - another sensible thing to do.. but you never know.

I am not so sure that is accurate. Since Riis by not denying, almost admitted that riders at Saxo agreede on riding on reduced salary. So based on that, it would perhaps be fair to assume, that the overall budget is not exactly the same as with Tinkoff.

Wrong assumption, and I think you misunderstood what was said. All existing contracts were allready covered. Saxo have now covered the shortfall left by the co-sponsor not renewing. Renewals and new contracts will obviously be negotiated between team and rider before signing. Any new co-sponsor will not decrease the new amount commited to by Saxo Bank, but rather be in addition to that amount.

Saxo Bank have covered the entire 6 million euro shortfall. Are you sure?

I'm not convinced the short fall was 6 million... That figure if true/close would be including an increase in overall budget afaik. When they signed a co-sponsor last year, Saxo Bank would have reduced their contribution, so with the co-sponsor contribution the budget would increase by an assumed estimate of about 50%. Saxo have Stepped up to cover that in full.

It is true though that Riis didn't deny that some riders would be taking pay cuts. It wouldn't surprise me if Saxo Bank agreed to make up a significant part of the short fall and then the rest needs to come from salary savings/new sponsors.

Apparently Saxo will also sponsor the new Specialized-Fundacion Alberto Contador U23 team so I would not be surprised if Saxo just covered the entire shortfall.
