If it's made in Taiwan, why is it the same $ as the King cage, made in Durango?

Planet's generic bottle cages are made by the most expensive labor in all of China. They cannot charge more than cages made in a first world country so they take a huge loss on every cage.

No clue. In my defense ( ;) ), I didn't even know about King until you guys brought it up here. Until a link got posted, I was assuming you meant Chris King. ;)

I haven't had these for long but so far they have worked very well. Plus they look great on the bike and aren't too expensive

+1 You'll be wanting an Elite then.

Ain't no coincidence they appear on many pro rigs year in year out.

While I admit to drinking the Specialized Kool-Aid, I love the current version of the Specialized Ribcage:
24270

I had the older version with the rubber center piece and it was absolute crap, had bottles lodged between the seat tube and down tube after any rough stretch of road

I prefer fresh juice to kool-aid, but I have one of the MTB version of the old design on my road bike which hasn't lost a bottle yet (about 4 years old now), despite some dirt roads and cobbles. My wife had one of the road version (circa 2007) on her bike and the rubber perished and stretched, and the cage cracked. Replaced it with one of the new version (only white cage the LBS had, plus half price as they were offloading all their specialised stuff) and it seems pretty good so far.

another vote here for king cages...simple, quality stuff and very reasonably priced if you stay with the steel ones...great tire levers too...
