Tell G to turn up in Apeldoorn then.

Alas, it doesn't matter in the UK as it's not an Olympic event :p

But it is true, they don't focus on the IP anymore. Which is kind of sad, and the UCI/IOC's fault, not British Cycling's.

Indeed. Such a shame that the track has been screwed in this manner depriving fans of a titanic struggle.
GB will be there in 2012 though with a strong pursuit team not the reserves for the first time since 2008. Clancy back, Brad back, G and maybe Ben Swift? Some team that, experienced too. The aussies have been allowed to have their fun now lets bring on the competition.
Interesting how someone already had the final that sadly will never be between Bobridge and Phinney, bit presumptuous perhaps? If Thomas had a proper go at the event sparks would fly.

More Boardman reaction

http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/7...lates-Bobridge-world-record-pursuit-ride.aspx

"He hasn't just beaten my Superman mark, he has absolutely smashed the conventional world record by nearly four seconds"

"The drama of an Olympic shoot-out in London between the world's best would have been incredible," said Boardman.

"I fully support the equalisation of the sexes the UCI introduced and I do appreciate that there probably had to be radical change in the programme for that to happen, but dropping the IP was an incredibly ill-considered decision...a knee-jerk reaction."

Mcquaid put a stop to that match up, and I dont think anybody understands why as of yet apart from the imbecile himself (Mcquaid). I'm still confused by whats happening to track racing.

for the sake of bmx racing of course; that halcyon pursuit of excellence in the field of "gnarly" clothes, "phat" handlebars and "dope" air.
i for one welcome this development and also look forward to the replacement of the 4 x 100m relay with the egg and spoon race.

Whatever the politics, BMX is a real sport with highly skilled, extremely fit athletes competing. I'm ****ed off they removed the IP for it and I can see that it's all politics. But no need to denigrate our fellow bike riders. They suffer like the rest of us. If you ever watch a world cup or championship BMX race, you won't see anyone pursuing 'dope' air. It's more like a combination between motor racing and a kieren.

I am afraid you are misinformed

"Another thing that blew me away was that not only were the best athletes putting out over 1800 W exiting the first turn, but they were pedaling at over 160 rpm and the best were over 180 rpm!"

Bmx riders are just as good as track riders, just ask Jamie Staff or Shanaze Reid.Although personally I prefer individual pursuit to bmx or long distance swimming

Well, anyone can see that Australia would be favourites at this stage. UK have to set a 3:55 at worst in Manchester.

The Australian 5 for the TP (for London) will be Bobridge, Meyer and then 3 of Parker, Dennis, Hepburn, Howard and Durbridge.

My Final 4 at this stage would be Bobridge, Meyer, Parker and Dennis.

Meyer is an interesting one as he only came in for the final in Copenhagen and Delhi. If he trains for it he will be in there. It may depend on who gets the nod for the Omnium (I'm thinking Meyer would be the most likely candidate).

Howard will ride the Omnium. He is quicker than Meyer, so would go better in the sprint events. He is also world omnium champion (even though I think the Olympic omnium is slightly different events?)

Because of this, I think Meyer will concentrate more on the teams pursuit for London. So I think the team would be: Bobridge, Meyer, Dennis, then Hepburn and Parker both riding some rounds each. Not sure on the Final 4.
