I'm tellin' ya, trading pulls with Remco is a losing proposition. Just no relief from the wind behind him, while he coasts as if behind a semi truck when riders like Wout are pulling. Someone said some years ago Remco just squeezes the life out of you doing that.

I still didn't think he'd win the sprint, but dayum.
Only Sonny B showed him!

Didn't see the post if it's here..recently hospitalized Italian race monster, Elisa Longo Borghini won women's version today, shooting ahead of the pack..her second win in a row!! Impressive return to racing after injury.

Blackmore rode like he belonged there, so chapeau to him. He was never beating either of his companions. It wasn't stupidity, it was a guy racing like he deserved to be racing, and the bridge he made to get to them was impressive. It's not a loss to him.
Great point

Wout is at his best. A sprint after such a race is not a normal sprint. It’s just the legs, who got something left. And Wout looked cooked the last 10km. Remco was just better in the end.

He just said Remco was killing him slowly the last hour.
....one of them just raced PR.

His sprint has gone.

That's what doing PR after trying to recover from injury again and again. Having said that; Remco knew that from doing a few hard pulls in the last km. Wout gave in. That doesn't mean he can't regain it but he's now headed to labor to bring Vindegaard to whatever GT fate awaits them both. I hope Remco continues to improve but this is not a bellweather performance to equate him with Pogacar and MvP for classics.

Today I saw Van Aert struggling in the final kilometers.
And they've cut the race to 160 kilometers.
The feeling is that if the distance had been 200 kilometers today, Van Aert wouldn't have arrive with Remco and he'd explode.
Yes but the way Remco was riding started to affect its way into Wout's legs. If you try to stay with Remco when he's flying, you will eventually pay the price. Wout was cooked...his lips were hanging down. I don't think the distance had much to do with anything. The pace that Remco had destroyed the whole field..except Wout who hung on. Plus Remco's explosive sprint was phenomenal

Weirdly, Wout seemed to be better AFTER the 200 km mark in RvV and Roubaix this year.

Gotta say, that was a cool race. The Belgian fans got their two biggest stars to battle it out on home roads, and I thought the course was great. I love that some relatively important races are more local circuits. Really good for the fans, and looked super fun to be there live. And the hills were enough. Great to see the young British kid out front, seeing if he could hang with the big boys. I would imagine he learned a lot about how long he needs to sustain that level of power to compete. Seems like he's got the class to have a chance to be at the front end in the years to come. Good race.

Didn't see full coverage of either race but saw last 60km of PR. At least he had a group to spell him there. He had 30km of shared work with Remco with little to no draft to follow. That's gotta hurt.

Think it was Campanaerts and he also ended up crashing due to fatigue
