Well, I'd rather have someone in charge who admits his mistakes and goes about putting things right rather than Pat and Hein who conspicuously haven't done much of either.

Maybe he's too plain speaking to be UCI president. Too straight. Maybe the job requires more of a politician (lying barsteward).

Has he admitted his mistakes or is he making up excuses to cover his past lies.

Admission could just be perpetuating an income?

He admitted to mistakes on 5 Live the other night. He played with a straight bat too. There haven't as far as I can tell, been any lies. He has admitted that the zero tolerance approach has been more difficult to implement than he thought.

Given that no-one else has tried it, that seems fair enough to me.

"Nazism have been described as far-right, such as allowing domination of a society by people deemed racially superior, while purging society of people declared inferior which were said to be a threat to national survival."

TDF 1998 - 2012.

I would never watch a UCI sanctioned cycling event for as long as he was president. But I feel safe that I will never have to make that decision.

Topic 2: I smell a very familiar smell coming from the OP.

Mark my words. The sooner the better...clear out all the old dead wood...remove the last vestiges of doping culture. He'd be good for the sport...credible for sponsors and national unions.

is this a joke?

I only go back as far as Lemond, but I can't remember a single other team taking such a resolute stance against doping before.

There are many other candidates for 'the list'.

Why not LeMond? Seriously why not.

He's a clear and clean voice for cycling, a polyglot, known on both sides of the Atlantic, understands a great deal of physiology, from a country of 350 Million ($$$), is passionate wrt cycling's future...

I think he could raise a lot of money by making every team put forward a "presentation" at the beginning of each season.

Twice a year. And at least one presentation before you're even confirmed as a team on the protour circuit.

Presentations will be judged by an independent panel of ASO and GCP stakeholders.

Lemond is a good shout. I'd have no problem with him at all, even if I did make the assumption back then (incorrectly) that he doped. He's American too, which might appease some of the former colonials of the clinic.

Lemond is worthy except these days you really do need some comfort and ability with social media to survive, let alone be effective, in a political position.

Disagree. His email to Pat McQuaid got out no worries - went viral in fact.

Henry Ford didn't know the date, he just asked his secretary as and when he needed to know it. GL can do the same with social media.

D1ck Pound (pardon the pun).

Yes, I'm serious.

Nah, ****'s had his day. I think Brailsford has it over **** in the "ruthless" stakes as well. Brailsford with Lemond in Hein's role...the honorary elder statesman.
