Maybe because Kimmage is a sad bitter failed bike rider who has a grudge against the sport and sees only the worst things rather than applaud the efforts being made to clean it up.

Remember he is an ex-doper just like Millar except he didn't lose his livelihood admitting it, he profited from it.

Just wanted to point that if you are going to call Kimmage a "sad bitter failed bike rider" then 99.5% of ALL bike riders are "sad bitter failed bike riders." Kimmage made it to the Tour de France, as a domestique, yes, but only the very best men in the world ever get a shot to line up at the Tour. You really reveal your ignorance about our great sport with posts like that.

By your reasoning Kimmage shouldn't be able to criticise anyone who was better than him at riding a bike.

Sorry I have a different opinion to you and I bow to your greater experience of the inner workings of world cycling.

It is well known that Kimmage has a chip on his shoulder, read his account of riding the Etape du Tour a few years ago and see the contempt that he holds regular bike riders in. You may not agree with that and as a mature grown up I accept that you have a different opinion.

Thanks for your post though, this forum needs more members just like you.

quotes to back this up, because I read that also.

Well known to whom?
One of these days you might even back up something you've said.

What books have you read? Sorry, don't see the relevance in that question.

i think its perfectly relevant, the discussion is primerily about kimmage, and you made comments regarding his character, but also your knowledge of him, so wondering if you have read his book or not couldnt really be more relevant to be honest.. :?

who where you in your previous incarnation anyway?

My thoughts exactly.......

I've read his book, ridden with him and spoken to people who have worked with him. Thanks for asking. I'm not sure I believe in reincarnation so will leave that comment without any response. Feel free to post your CV and some personal references so I can see if you are worthy of any future replies though.

Do a google search if you want to read what he said about the Etape.

Since we're not in court I can't see the point in adding evidence to everything, do your own investigation if it's that important to you.

Opinions don't really need evidence but thanks for showing your concern.

You're welcome Bobbins, but see if you can add something to the forum yourself besides more useless drivel that isn't backed up by any facts.

i actually think it would be good to have a few more kimmages speaking there mind and bringing things out in the open rather than hiding them away..

however, what you are doing is stating facts, or rather, stating stuff and claiming it is factual.

and simply ignoring it when people respond to you, ask you questions or whatever.

hmm ... which now banned user became known for this sort of way of 'debating'? hmm ...

Attacking the messenger never seems to lose it's luster when arguments about the message aren't working.

Just re-read this thread and it looks like there are some very touchy people responding to the points raised.

The insinuations about the GB track team seem to be well received by you all. I guess that anyone that does well in a bike race must be on the tackle and you all know this because you have all got first hand experience of this?

Didn't think so.

When Kimmage interviews Nadal and talks about drugs in tennis and athletes implicated in Operation Puerto then maybe I'll consider him a credible sports journalist.

While he continues to knock cycling alone he only adds to my thoughts about him. Bear in mind that he has admitted to cheating in cycling, the what extent only he knows but I'm sure I'm not the only one who treats admissions such as 'only tried it once' with suspicion.

Rafael Nadal interview with Paul Kimmage,Sunday Times May 20th 2007.
“How did it feel when those drug allegations surfaced at Wimbledon last year?”

He doesn’t blink an eye. “I was never accused,” he says. “There were no real allegations. It was a nonserious newspaper [Le Journal du Dimanche] in France. The person who wrote that article did not even put his name to it. That proves two things: that he is a coward and that he is not serious.”

Dave Brailsford's comments to Cycling Weekly March 2008 - after Rob Hayles had failed the 50% haematocrit test.

“I’ve known Rob a long time and there’s never been any doubt in my mind that Rob is anything but a fantastic athlete for Great Britain,” he said.
I’ve spoken to Rob and looked him straight in the eye and he’s devastated as you’d expect. All of our riders are tested and we’ve had thousands of tests done on our squad.”
________

Dave Brailsford's comments to Sunday Times November 2009 - about David Millar.

“You gave an interview to Richard Moore once for his book Heroes, Villains & Velodromes and said this about doping: ‘You can tell from the way people talk if they are hiding something. They come up with far-fetched ******** excuses, but look in their eyes’. . . Why didn’t you see it David Millar’s eyes?”

“Good question, yeah.”

“You didn’t suspect him at all?”

“I suspected him, I think.”

“You did?”

“Oh yeah, let’s be honest, there was a cloud, but on balance — probably because he’s the thoroughbred that he is — I thought he could do what he was doing naturally.”

“You didn’t talk to him about it?”

“Yeah, I asked him if there was anything going on.”

“And he denied it?”

“Yeah ... there was never any admission whatsoever, no, no, no ... And he was tested all the time and there were no anomalies ... there was a cloud of allegations but no facts ...
