Thought the proogrammes were pretty good to be honest.

Particularly so for anyone new to the sport who might have been watching.

5-10 years ago, we would never have dreamt of seeing any kind of documentary about cycling on TV. I think its great.

Not even of Tommy Simpson?

I saw a great documentary about him once, in Dutch though. Actually, a lot of it was in English. Because his friend, who later married Tommy's wife, tells a large part of his story. Maybe it's on youtube, I posted 4 episodes of this show on the first page of this thread.

Correct. Certainly Tom Simpson.
Here's the BBC's documentary: 'Death on a Mountain.'

I'm pretty sure this is the same show.

That's Barry Hoban, winner of Ghent-Wevelgem and several stages of the Tour. I think he was the rider the won the stage in tribute to Simpson the day after he died. Though some say it should have been Vin Denson who was allowed to win

All about the Tour.

Found Mark *****ing about something on the Team Car hilarious. Interesting to hear Rod admit that they wouldn't have taken a sprinter in an ideal world.

Wiggins gave Froome the ok on Stage 17 of the Tour. Team Management pulled him back.

Funny thing is that I remember an interview with Froome after that stage in which he said that Wiggins hadn't given him the ok to go for the stage win. It wasn't like it was an actual attack like on La Toussuire so I give Froome the benefit of the doubt on that one. Wiggins just couldn't follow Froome's tempo after going into the red to accelerate around Van den Broeck.

Running a Proteam and an Olympic program would require a lot of work, yes. They also have to avoid exposing too much to rival teams as well. It's amazing how scientific Sky is. I mean they monitor everything from power output to effect of the mood lighting on the team bus.

According to Brailsford the idea is to get the 15% advantage you get from doping through clean methods.
Does that include measuring how many ciggies Wiggins smokes? :)

btw, to those who watched this, did they in any episode focus on uran henao and cav at the giro?
They had an episode on the Giro, but only focused in Cavendish. Don't think there was anything on Uran or Henao. They didn't even mention Uran's white jersey, but obviously talked a lot about Cavendish's loss in the point's jersey.

In the same episode they also showed a lot on T-A, where they illustrated it as a failure by Cavendish (as he had to quit), while weirdly enough avoiding to mention that he (and EBH) won a stage.

Another thing I found to be quite peculiar was that in the episode about Tour de Romandie, they had like 15 minutes on Wiggins' stage win, but didn't even mention Geraint Thomas' win in the prologue (and he's british!).

The Giro was briefly touched on in the first program but they seemed to concentrate on Cav's crashes more than his wins. The whole series seems to be more a PR exercise to fluff up and increase Wiggo's and Brailsford's rise to hero status than that of the team or any other rider.

If anyone was in any doubt that this was to be solely Brad's year then that is definitely removed as right from the first training camp when Brads helpers were chosen they remained as a single unit training and racing from January - TDF so that they gelled and were able to carry him to all his wins not just the TDF. Where as Cav's sprint train never materialized as he had to make do with whichever riders had been chosen to do a particular race, unlike the sprint train of Griepel this year who started training together in Dec/Jan and remained the same throughout the season. As everyone knows a sprinter needs to have confidence in his train and them in him but this only comes over time, that confidence was not there where EBH was concerned at the TDF as was plain to see.

Last weeks episode naturally concentrated on Brad winning the yellow jersey but only showed Cav's final sprint solely as he was led out by whole team and in particular Brad which gave a good impression.

As you may have gathered I'm not particularly a fan of Sky and definitely not of Brad's or Brailsford's.
