Boom.

Opportunistic victory in cold and glacial racing conditions, rather than a show of athletic superiority.

By the way how long was that TTT?

Didn't Tyler or someone write on certain dope (roids or some) that you ride better with it in the cold? Made me think of Armstrong and Museeuw.

Seriously think the latest interview by Hushovd is good on his part. http://www.vg.no/sport/sykkel/artikkel.php?artid=10055224

Unlike e.g Arvesen he actually says he was/is clean(no weak non-denial) and is angry that he lost to dopers. This is in line with what real clean athletes should feel.

"The more that surfaces, the more I feel cheated as an athlete. My palmares would be much longer if everyone was clean like me."

Think he is really bitter that dopers obviously has stopped him from winning Paris-Roubaix.

About the admissions: "All have lied for years, and only comes forward because they are pressured and their feets are burning. None are heroes." He especially thinks about Kjærgaard and really smacks him.

Hushovd's problem is that he is an ego-inflated money hungry *****, not that he is a doper.

I think Arvesen has been very clear in his denials of having doped. Though he has'nt expressed any bitterness towards the dopers. My impression is that these guys tried to focus on themselves and hope the dopers were caught. Arvesen said he made his choice to remain clean, with the consequence of going slower and winning fewer races.

I think many of the sprinters have a big ego, and I think Hushovd falls into that category too.

In a way both Arvesen and Hushovd were lucky in not being GC candidates. The pressure on them to dope was hence less.

Interestingly Hushovd said no to an offer from USPS and Lance personally in 1999, In part due to his agents recomendation to stay away from them. I don't think he regrets that decision now.:D

On the other hand Hushovd claims he has never been offered any dope, has never seen anyone dope. Only later did he learn that some of his teammates were doping as they were busted.
Oh yeah?

In an earlier interview he said Kashetskin more less openly asked his teammates where to get dope. To be fair: Thor knew K was looking for dope but confirmation that he found dope came later.

Look at his career. He was at CA. If anyone doped they would keep it to themselves.

And my impression from a known clean rider was that you did'nt talk about dope with people you suspected were clean.

The clean riders might talk about doping among themselves, but never talk about it with a doper if they could avoid it. I think this goes in reverse too.

Before Festina, talk might have been more open, but after I think people were very careful about what they talked about and with who they said stuff to.

Jens Voight rode for CA so there was defintiely doping going on as Jörg Jaksch names Voight as being scared that the authorities would find the teams epo at a one tour.

How many times has Jürg been misquoted about Voigt in here? I'm not saying Jens didn't dope but this is not what Jürg said.

Yes, there is that. Of course he knew and knows a lot, as every cyclist does. Together with his idiotic friendship/partnership with LA he hasn't exactly been proactive for a culture change in the peloton. Few redeeming qualities other than that there is a good probability he was/is clean. IMO

I think your impression is wrong. He could climb, see him in the espoirs in Ronde l'Izard, see him go on long Jalabert like breaks when he had to gain points in the green. I think there is zero chance he was a clean rider on CA, and they all talked about it. This is bunkum, and profoundly naive
