I like Robbie McEven commentating from the motorbike :D
It's pretty cool, it should happen more often.
On the other hand, Cadel commentating is cringeworthy
Polish TV has a commentator commentating from the motorbike during Tour de Pologne for many years now.

The Tour of Qatar international broadcast has had Matt Rendell on a bike.

Real lack of depth in the teams, top ride by Kennaugh.

Bang on. Very classy attack by Kennaugh, but pretty amazing that there was such little horsepower to bring him back. Hard parcours though, therefore hard to control.
The parcours is harder than given credit for - dead roads, undulating and crosswinds. Apart from the temperature difference a good preparation race for the hard man classics and stage races.

I watched the replay, great ride by Kennaugh!
It's nice to see that Bonifazio is already in good shape.

Very unlike Kennaugh to be in any sort of form at this time of year. Mentioned in his interview that he's done a bit more 'numbers' based training over winter. Hopefully, he's found a formula to realise his potential

France 2 has two commentators on bikes during Tour de France

Last year he was in the top ten in this race, and 6th in GC in the Ruta del Sol, so not too shoddy early n the year.

I was driving in race convoy (commissaire driver) and there are a lot of ups n downs especially on the final circuit, with two short very steep sections (~ 18-20%) that really sting and is where the race blows apart.

Il Falco used to do that, nowadays it's Massimiliano Lelli.

guys, are you talking seriously? every respected race has that since at least 50 years ago or something. my favourite is juan carlos in la vuelta

I am, that was the first time I've seen a commentator on a bike. But then I always watch on English channels.

Correct, nothing new. When I said that I like Robbie commentating from the motorbike, I meant that I like his style and his way of commentating from the bike. He is a "fast" talker, and I like that. Unlike P&P that are slow and are just repeating over and over the same stuff.

None of the Eurosport races (in English) have people on bikes commentating, mainly because the commentary almost always comes from Heathrow. They could push the boat out for the races they're on site at (Tour, Turkey... is that it?) but have yet to do so.
