Campagnolo super record pulley on record ?

danielovichdk2 said:
The subject says it all.

Can I take a pulley from a super record rear-derailleur and put it on a record one ?

Cheers

Yes, and opposite also. All 11tooth pulleys from Campagnolo rear ders are cross compatible. Use the ones from Athena or Chorus to save $, get same performance. Make sure you note the upper or lower pulley markings and inside or outside, direction of spin..otherwise you will have chain noise. Stay away from after market ones, more $, less performance and longevity and 'cool' doesn't enter into it cuz...well, it's on the rear der. and you are moving. Who cares what people think at the coffee shop before the ride. It's about the ride, not the bike.

I have used carbon jockey wheels for years ,they run as good as anything.
The fibre lyte ones are very clever in design and don't have any bearings but are so smooth , Highly recommended and no chance like some jockey wheels of the bearings separating form the body.
I also use the AFC plastic jockey wheels " 2grms" no issues.

Yes...why not upgrade to some carbon pulleys. Save some weight and look cool.

There are a ton of other places on a bicycle to save weight.....swapping out Jockey Wheels???? Really??

"Look Cool" ?? I don't get that part
Maybe a need to take a closer look at other riders Drive Trains to ascertain their "Coolness" :D

Here's a one of my tuned Sram red rear mechs weighs 87grm :D jockey wheels weigh less than 7grms pair.

Here's the bike that it's now on ....there is no where left to save weight :D

Looks like you've ticked all the boxes there ;)

Without knowing your digits, it looks to be a very aggressive set up.....slammed stem etc.
Any neck, shoulder or lower back pain during or after long rides?

No, none. Very comfy. I don't like being hunched up in any way -any power you put down is less smooth "motion".
Maximum efficiency.

I have another bike that's going to be lighter. I'm building it right now with the help of my friend Ed who runs London carbon repairs its going to be lighter than the trek. I will post it soon as it's ready " month or two"

cheers....

My scales are rubbish so some of these weights are based on previous more accurate scales. Some parts maybe a wee bit lighter due to some parts weighed on my unreliable Kitchen scales ......

frame Trek 5900 superlight weighs around 950grms. Took off over 250grms worth of paint.

forks Storck stiletto UMS 230grms

tuned Red shifters with BTP carbon clamps ,,no idea ,sorry ...There's not much left to weigh . ha ha. "230grms"

tuned Red front mech . just under 50grms with my own self made carbon cage that I fitted and the sad loss of a dremel

tuned Red rear mech 87grms

tuned Helion crankset including bb, including 53t Fibre Lyte chain ring. 560grms

Modolo downtube shifter and bits 8grms

Wheels clinchers XR200 rims ,Dati hubs, Sapim super spokes around 1190 grms made by my good friend and great mechanic Adi

Carbon seat post combo made by my good friend Ed http://londoncarbonrepairs.co.uk/ http://tsubasabicycles.com/ 142grms

Head set is Cane Creek AER the bearing hardly touched the scale 1grm. Did not weigh the rest... sorry

Zipp bars chopped down 155grms

Stem is a Ritchey -17 120mm 115 grms

Look keo carbon pedals ,no idea sorry.

Powercordz for the brakes

Normal cords for shifting ...powercordz slipped but will try again .

Outer housing is old tune housing with the casing stripped. This is way way lighter than Mini I links etc . No liner is needed and it just weighs a few grms.

Real carbon bar plugs are glued to the bars using a carbon glue weigh, 2grms

Ax Orion brakes with tuned KCNC pad holders that weigh less than 5grm each. Brakes are the older Orions and its 125grms all in.

recon cassette weighs 110 grms

Yaban chain 225grms "4 links removed" .

Veloflex master tyres 190grms

Conti inner tubes 50grms

tune skyline skewers 19grms pair.

Bar tape I picked up on ebay. Its not proper cycle tape. It is crazy light and leaves no sticky residue behind.

I do have a Fibre Lyte 40t for the inner ring but I'm always on the 53t so left the strong light 39t on.

The 40t will go on my other bike [SISL cranks]

I made some holes in the frame for internal cables, this did not work out to well. I took the frame to Ed and he fitted some new crazy light cable stops for me.

I filled the Holes myself with some carbon ud tape so the frame dropped a wee bit more weight. ha ah

I have 3 red front mech's tuned and I can tell you that cutting through titanium is a very hard. I blew up a dremel.

I do have a - 17 degree stem that weighs 89 grms Ed was going to make a combo with it but it's just to fat looking.

I am at the moment I am just rebuilding a Guru photon frame that Guru changed the frame to a PF30 from a normal BSA for me so I could run a SISL crank." my fav crank" It will be insane light lots of combo action and tuned parts.

Save some trivial and meaningless weight, look like a tosser. But hey, at least they're expensive.

I still can't see, unless it specifically pointed out to me, how ones Jockey Wheels can make you like either Cool or look like a Tosser??

Anyways...whatever blows your hair back :D

I know where I can immediately shave some weight from.....none of it's on my bike(s) -

Ray - thanks for the comprehensive weight break downs.

Whats the goal here? I mean, can you or do you race these machines??......or just trying to get an uber-lightweight bike and enjoying the journey / process?

Have you considered running a singe CR up front, losing the front mech and the associated shifting components? --surely more weight loss there?

Yes you can. You cant race UCI illegal. I do enjoy "can be stressful like any bike can" the journey and riding my bikes.
I have thought about getting rid of the front mech, I ride and climb on my 53t always ,whatever .wherever.
But it would not feel or look like a racing bike without the front mech IMO. It does have a downtube shifter for the front mech, less cable and I have taken out all the gear bits of the shifter.
cheers Ray

Perhaps more to with being perceived as a tosser if you bang on about how you've saved 4 grams. Yes, they're not likely to be noticed unless the owner points them out. And when they inevitably do....well.....

Yes - I understand what you mean :D
Very noticeable with wheels, seat posts, bats, stems etc.....but Jockey Wheels are a new one for me
As above...horses for courses and all that.

Well good for you.

What's your problem?

Perhaps your comments about riding / climbing in 53 always etc are a bit eye brow raising and polarising??

Especially considering you are hell bent on setting up an Uber-Lightweight machine, yet still retain the Front Mech and Smaller CR up front. Seems counter intuitive.

Just Sayin.

Bottom line: - you can do and say what you like - that's cool ;)

Simple, really.

It's that I don't really believe you. There is probably little you can do that can change that. And even if you really do climb long 12%+ grades in the Alps and Pyrenees in the big ring, I also just think it is really, really stupid to do so.

Well I have been riding for quite some time and it just happens to be the way I ride. I have some pretty decent times up cols in my bag but obviously you would not believe them if I posted them.
I did not mention that I ride in a 53t all the time as a "macho statement " It was to explain why I put the downtube shifter on the front mech as I don't use the paddle and it drops more weight as I don't flick between the front rings.

I have kept the 39 front mech because it would not be a racing bike without it IMO. " I like that look"

I have never had any issues physically riding on my 53t and it works for me. So It's not "stupid" or makes me
"stupid" it just not something you do or can do " I don't know you" When I was a cycle courier "London" I had a 54t on my courier bike.

I don't understand why you would think I would lie but obviously that's your issue to deal with.

I have only posted in a good spirit and have been truthful and am happy to ask any questions about my bike that I posted. "Its lucky I didn't post my other racing bike it's way lighter :D "

You obviously have a problem with my bike my gear choice and your posts have just been negative and its obvious you have an issue with what I do, which is "your problem"

I am completely uninterested in your bike. Chasing grams like that has very little to do with cycling as I undertake it and is more some sort of somewhat pointless engineering exercise, in my view.

Yep, it's all on me. My problem. There's little you can do to change my view of your big-dog assertions or your interest in bespoke weight-weenie engineering. Might be best that you just put me on ignore.

I don't put people on ignore. That's for cowards IMO. Other views are out there its no good pretending there not .I like to hear people opinions etc

Perhaps you should think about what made you so angry about my post and your need to respond the way you did and have again.
"Big dog assertions" You obviously have a complex and that is "your problem"

I am always up for a joke and some banter. Perhaps instead of posting with the aim of trying to insult me "tosser" - that was the insinuation, you could have taken your own advice and just ignored my post.
