Are the old QS FDs compatible with 2009 and newer Ultra Shift Levers (specifically, 2010 Veloce mated with a Centaur QS braze-on FD). Professor Google hasn't really provided me with a clear answer. Thanks.

Sort of answered my question: yes, it works, Campy just says it won't work because, like all companies, want to sell you new components every couple seasons. ;)

edit: only reason I asked is I dumpster dove in my mechanics parts bin and found a like new Centaur QS FD. $10. ;)

I have a QS front on both bikes including the 11 speed and as you see, FDs shift chains pretty well regardless of the system they are optimum with. Maybe the 11 speed FD is better matched to the shifters or the cable pull is a little different but the older 10 speed FD works plenty good enough.

Heck I have a Mavic 9sp FD on my Campy 10sp setup on the backup bike. Its dialed in so perfect I won't dare touch it, the Campy 10sp FD is still sitting in the parts bin :D

Yes. Also with the new innards for 2011 Athena, Centaur and Veloce.

As an aside, how is Power Shift? I know people claimed Campy "dumbed down" their lower end groups, but I have only had experience with Ultra Shift so I can't really say. Imagine it's similar to Shimano shifting feel?

More 'clicky' than shimano and the guts are simplier, less expensive. BUT PS is still better than shimano, which is really good and lightyears better than anything sp(r)am makes. Even red, or yellow red or black red.

I run a Chorus QS front del with the new style Ultra shift 10 speed Centaur levers which Campy doesn't recommend. It works fine but the I notice if I hit a big bump or really rough roads the front del can down shift off the large chain ring. It might have something to do with the extra load put on the shifter from the QS mech.
