Can they still...

...take a transfusion on the rest day and get away with it or would the change in blood parameters trigger a red light?

Let's say hypothetically some of the riders who've been less than impressive in the first week - for example Contador or Basso - suddenly explode into awesomeness on thursday, just how suspicious would that be?

Its still possible, as much as a politician still being able to tweet his genitals to some girl he met on the internet.

As long as the rider isn't tested he's golden.

Basso less than impressive? Basso had a good first week!

Microdose epo doping is very much possible without eliciting abnormal changes in the blood variables.

Transfusion? The same! The biggest problem? "Plasticisers", chemical evidence..

Plasticizer test is not validated in the sense that it can lead to an 'adverse analytical'.

Now that the riders and their doping doctors know about the plasticizer test, I am certain they would find an alternative way of getting more stamina (use some other type of storage container for autologous doping, or micro-dosing Edgar Allen Poe).

With all the crashes and abandons, there must be quite a few extra white lunchbags lying around. The rest day would be a perfect opportunity for refueling.

Fuentes used to rent an appartment in rest day towns, maybe he still does. Ferrari used to follow the tour in his motorhome, maybe he just liked mixing with the drunk Dutch fans. Anyone seen him on the side of the road this year?
