Captain Obvious needs to make a statement.

I'm hitting mid-season depression. The best GT of the year and indeed, of many years, plus the big Northern classics are over.
Time for real racing to be replaced by commercial racing.

The Giro always throws a huge pile of ingredients into the pot. Sometimes they blend together for a spectacular success. This has been one such an occasion.

The Tour, as usual, will be sticking to the recipe, so we pretty much know what we'll be getting.

I've been to the Tour de France, and spare the inevitable beating to death, I loved every minute of it. My plan was to visit the Giro last year, but way out of my price range.

i‘ve been a cycling fan for a long time and honestly this giro rates as one of the most exciting gts i’ve ever followed.

it had it all, every type of time trial, high mountain stages, attacking riders, white roads, maglia rosa changing hands frequently, racing in the rain/snow/fog, spectacular scenery, lack of obvious leader till very end….

all we need now is to see if the winner was the one who was first today.

Great race! All clean?

Here's hoping!

Realistically, though, we seem to be averaging one or two failed tests per Grand Tour these days, so I would expect to see someone get flagged up in a month or so. Hopefully it isn't anyone in the top 10.

Its been a wonderful race , its just a shame some of the teams and riders dont treat it with the respect it deserves. I will say the same thing bout the Australian broadcasters, seriously live ATOC every day and half hour highlights of the Giro .

Now you have an idea how racing was before Lance and boredom came in. Pretty much GT racing like this :)

And it should also be said that Lance ruined last year's Giro by simply being there. Zomengan tailored the course to the Texan's concerns, which pretty much meant taking all the big climbs out that make the Giro the most spectacular climbers race in the world. All the top non-Italians said as much this year, from Wiggins to Evans to Vinoukorov in regards to the steep Italian mountains, the latter even said this Giro was harder than the Tour.

Armstrong wanted a Giro-Lite, so as not to embarass himself on the Mortirolo, Zoncolon, or the other giants like Stelvio and Gavia. Last year's course was positively unedited, in that none of the famous climbs were included, and once again we can thank Lance for making cycling worse. And he even had the termerity to complain in Milan, for which the Italian press took odds with his Magisty the Whiner for which Lance, typical of his sullen and mean-spirited persona, refused to talk to the press for the rest of the race. And Zomengan had to still pay out the million euro for having him! The Italian race organizer learned quickly that the Giro was not honored by having Lance in it.

The baseness with which this man comports himself has no limits. I will be throwing a Lance Goes Down party if the Landis Affair really does bring out all the truth about the Texan that absolutely needs to come out. Nothing would make me happier. Though I'm not holding my breath as justice is an extremely rare thing these days. But there's always room for hope.

I think someone was just trying to point out why GTs might have been less entertaining in the recent past.
Didn't take long for the Lance ball suckers to show up though, did it?

It's sort of like cockroaches living where no other form of life can survive and cat dander existing everywhere on the planet where no cat has ever been. They are simply unavoidable. Easiest thing is just not to reply directly to them and just try and ignore the puppet show. Laughably bad tho' it may sometimes be.

Did the mod's limit the length of your posts? Where are the other 8000 characters?

'Magisty?'

Lance would have done his career a huge favor if a press blackout was his habit rather than the exception. His piehole shall be his undoing. How delicious is that? Ooops....we aren't supposed to talk about him...the Fanboy Puppet Company feelings will be hurt.

If you mean the Tour, well yes I am not counting on it. I expect Contador to win fairly comfortably but one can always hope.

It is not that Contador will probably win. It is that the racing will be boring as well.

The Tour has time trials that are too long, climbs that are not steep enough, and roads that are too wide.

Or if the climbs are steep enough they decide to throw on 30km of flat to the end of the stage

ATOC is a lot cheaper then the Giro.

Genuine question, but do they actually have any long steep climbs in France that could be used?
