You mean Aspin west, no? Or was the east side really categorized 2nd? :O

Yep, a stage from Andorra to Pla d'Adet (230km) with Col de Canto, Col de Bonaigo, Col de Portillon, Peyresourde, Aspin and Pla d'Adet.

The stage before was also 230km long and had 9 climbs (not all of them difficult), finishing with a MTF in Pal.

LS, with you on Arcalis being a good option for a MTT. I am miffed as to why there aren't more of these in the Tour De France: still not a proper one since 2004.

Just on the '97 and '09 stages though, I know that a 257km stage is unrealistic these days, but that stage proves that difficult climbing can be had before Arcalis, so maybe not a 6 climb stage, but throw in 2 or 3 decent mountains before it and the stage finish could still be okay. It's like with the Giro finish in Aprica, very easy climb, but when you throw in the Mortirolo (amongst others) beforehand it makes for good racing.

Updated version including the 2014 climbs. Did adjustments on the NC-4C limit and the 2C-1C limit (now requiring 381 on the squared cotation instead of 400).
