Im calling Cav out on stage 17. He looses the bunch up second hill, looses the bus up the third hill, and goes solo to goal. Doesnt make the timecut.

No way he'll climb worse than Maggie Backstedt or McEwen. He'll make it over the mountains.

I have no doubt he can climb mountains a stage or two, even three, good enough to make the timelimit. However, has Cavendish ever finished a 3 week race? As far as I know, Cavendish has up til now only gone for 1 - 1 1/2 weeks max (allthough his previous exits from GT's were planned). Further, in previous years Cav has had serious trouble finishing races. This should be a major factor for him going into the third week of the tour. Can he sustain it?

Allthought I'm not certain he will go out on 17, thats my best bet . A whole other issue is how Cav will be sprinting after the first mountains (stage 7-9), after the hilly mountains up Verbier etc, and eventually in Paris after Ventoux. Abit on the side of this topic maybe, but do people think Cav will continue his domination after putting a couple good mountains in his legs? Personally i think guys like Freire, Hushovd, etc will be taking over the sprints next week, even if Cav should still be in the race.

Ive given fermil the next two stages as it makes the list look better.

Here I was thinking that my chances of winning were over!

Although it was soon after the stage, Cav didnt sound too confident for the rest of the tour. One Hot climb and hes toast!

Unsheath gets a bonus stage for reminding me our our old Old English Sheepdog that had a particular problem with grass seeds. DJ has been given a sympathy vote by the committee.

I would like Cav to make it all the way to Paris......but that doesn't get you a vintage jersey!

So... stage 20 to Ventoux.

And the winner is ANUBISZA, well technically not, because he didnt pull out the party pooper. But whats a comp without a prize?

Email me youor addy and I will post it off for you.

Is it better that I post a pic or should I keep or keep you in suspense?

Both are very good questions to ask. I think if you look at the thread, you will see what is was really all about then and now.

The aim was to correctly predict when Cav pulled out. The first poster to say Cav would make it to Paris was included as well just for the fun of it because it was a fair comp and had no rules. So ole anibsdzs whatsit won.

When I saw this thread title before the Tour started I thought you were going to have to pick which 6 stages you thought he was going to win like lottery numbers.:p:p:p

Lovegoat, he finished the Giro 2008 but DNFd in Tour 07/08 and Giro 09. In 07he was far too early and I suspect the decision may have been in part based on the English stages at the start, so he did sort of finish his first proper crack at a Grand Tour?!
