Well amigos.
Will Pat still be El Presidente this autumn?
Arn't the UCI elections in August?
Will he survive? Who are the competitors?
Any bookmakers offering odds on next pres or duration of Pat's term? ...
Thanks
It is hard to understand the mentality of a man like McQuaid, whose wilful blindness and inaction during the worsening scandal over doping in cycling, could have the belief he is capable of making any progress in re-establishing the sport's credibility.
His inept leadership is so obvious, it hurts.
Is it hubris, vain-glory, power mongering, pride, the threat of losing his perks including his membership in the IOC with all the extra perks that brings? Is he too adapted to the lifestyle. Who knows?
I assume those who elect him are the national federations, although I have not checked the UCI constiution, and why is it they are silent about McQuaid's massive failure of leadership
When cycling continues to be the poster child for EPO, cheating, lying, prevarication and the laughing stock of the athletic world what is needed is a visionary, who can conjure up respect and not a lame-duck whose lack of leadership simply has the effect of continuing to appease the culture of doping.
